.... have you coped with it as well as you hoped?

I always like to think I can handle anything that's thrown at me but this is starting to get to me now tbh.

Restrictions in France were relaxed but from September 1st it's masks back on.

I now can't have my friends & family down during the month the villa is empty and I can't visit them.

I've had to stop watching the news because it's relentless and endless.

I'm starting to think it's getting to me now despite my blasé persona when Mrs Smug is around.

How're you doing ....

I have to say I’m not enjoying it.

Ive always had a certain lifestyle, I’m sociable, I spend very little time in the house.

I eat out, I drink. I move around and travel. I just like being able to up and do what I want with my free time.

Im predominantly working from home and I don’t feel I can do as much over Teams and Zoom, there’s less buzz.

I can go for a pint, but I can’t mingle, I can’t fully enjoy myself and be open to what I want to do, i night have to queue, might need to book days in advance for food etc, that doesn’t work. I don’t know what I’m gonna want to do or eat days in advance.

Then there’s the footy, can we feel as engaged without the fortnightly pilgrimage? I don’t think so.

I’m having to decline certain things in the off chance I pick something up and pass it on to my ageing parents, I won’t risk having to reduce contact with them even further, so that’s another compromise.

I’m spending 75% or more of my time in my home, and for all we are getting through it, for all it’s ‘getting there’, I am absolutely struggling with the reduction in human interaction.

It is what it is, but there’s no upside in any of this for me.

Living in WA we did it tough for the first few weeks like everyone else. I have nothing but praise for the state government under Mark McGowan who has done an amazing job in keeping COVID down to a very low number of infections and reducing community transmission to almost zero.
On a personal note, life has gone on pretty much as normal for both me and Mrs EJK. You know what I do for a living so I just go to work as normal. Mrs EJK works as an admin officer for the Department of Health so again, work as normal for her, although had we still lived in the old country things would’ve been very different as she was airline cabin crew so likely that she would’ve been laid off or on furlough at present.
Our son is in the RAN over in Wagga Wagga NSW and due to interstate borders being closed we’re unable to see him, we manage to FaceTime regularly though. He graduates from his trade training back end of November and its not looking good at present that we can get over for that but let’s wait and see what happens. Clive Palmer (fat lard arse billionaire) is currently taking the WA government through the courts to force them to open up the border as he believes it’s unconstitutional. We believe that it also stops the WA population from getting COVID as well.

I'm probably drinking too much, definitely not doing enough exercise, have been warned my blood pressure is pretty high, and the prescribed tablets make me feel ill; I stopped taking the pills and feel better for it. No work and little income is a ****ing pain... I've stopped watching/ reading about the pandemic news- as I feel all it does is encourage fear. Apart from that I'm OK and thanks for letting me have a rant

You mention FaceTime what an absolute godsend technology has been for us all in this.

Imagine if this had hit 10 years ago.

One positive for me actually is I’m in the best condition I’ve been for 15 years, bought a load of home exercise stuff and been using it far more then I’d go to a gym.

Good luck mate, I can’t even imagine the strain. Like it or lump it your income is everything, but use your kids as your motivation mate, you’ll get it done.

Bit cabin feverish at times, but that's just as I'm bored to **** with no work so stuck in most of the time. Got a warehouse course next week and garanteed interview so while wages will be crap compared to being on site, they're better than Universal Credit.

On the plus side, I have found loads of good choooons through the old you tube there that I never would have had time to find before. Feel like I want some decks again, or some of them new fangled CD mixer things.

It's the Darlo one marra, that's where I'm living at the mo so makes sense. Had a couple of labouring jobs on there while it was going up so at least it's all still new and clean. Vast place mind, I pitied the poor ****ers who had put the stickers on the floor for the robots. That looked a proper ****e tedious job. And I should know, I've done a few.

Didn’t go out for the first three months. My daughter who’s a copper and still working obviously did all our shopping. Surprisingly enough, I didn’t miss the pub so much, only been out on a Sunday afternoon since they opened. Still get to see my family, so no great hardship for me. Feel heartfelt sorry for those affected by it, mentally and financially. Good luck to you all.

I've not had a set of decks for years but got given a Numark Partymix for Christmas... they're only £60-70, connect to Soundcloud or Tidal - and surprisingly good fun.

I struggled at first with the lockdown as it was very sudden and total but now I can travel freely I get to see my daughter 2 or 3 times a week. We still have to wear the masks but to be honest it's become second nature to slip it on. Going out for a meal is still a bit surreal because of social distancing although I've only been out 4 times since it was allowed.
I've discovered my vinyl album collection again and I'm watching a lot of You Tube music vids through my MacBook and my headphone/amp set up. Some nights I listen for hours and then realise it's 2 or 3 am. When the heat dies down a few of us are going to climb the local mountain which I'm looking forward to and I should get some great nature pictures.

Mrs tested positive in April couple of days in bed. Lost her taste and smell for 3/4 weeks. She been tested got the antibodies.
Interestingly we never took any precautions within the home other than isolating for two weeks. She used my electric toothbrush and we slept in the same bed we’ve got three kids and the rest of us either didn’t get it or had no symptoms whatsoever.
Nuts really.

Living over here has hardly altered my life at all we walk local instead of driving up to the fells and probably saved £50 a week in juice and another £150 to £200 in grub if it carries on I will probably die a rich bloke
