Which are questionable? Do you genuinely believe Spence is worth £20m? He has huge technical deficiencies but is just a freak athlete.
Reading away, unless you meant the home game but the away one was awful and we were saved by a long range Wilks goal and the ref somehow not giving penalties against Bernard. The Sheff Utd game, it was pretty much backs to the wall but I think we got a few glimpses for KLP on the break 1st half. Not sure that can be classed as 'very good' though. I think you can question most of those mentioned though. He's shown glimpses or had spells in those game but to me you don't get it enough. £15m is an awful lot of money for a Championship player, and I'd expect you to be able to pick out at least 15 games where he was very good. You picked 8, and that's the issue. In a 46 game season, that isn't many. He's a player that always leaves me wanting him to do more. I don't **** on him, I just didn't think tonight was particularly impressive. It was a game perfect for him to make a big impression and with him scoring after 2 mins, I thought he'd have been full of confidence, and he'd have gone for it. Do you honestly think he pushed his claim tonight to make the team?
Yeah meant the home one, the away game made me lose brain cells. Sheff Utd one he ran Baldock and Basham ragged for the game so I’d class that as very good considering the calibre of players they are at this level. I do understand your points on the value though, I’ve been a big advocate of being realistic about our situation. So I’d agree on that with you. I just feel given the context of our season and the overall quality of our squad it’s harder for an attacking player to stand out frequently. Brennan Johnson who is a more finished article then KLP yes, but has benefitted from firstly a better manager, secondly having a much better squad around him. These things all contribute to an attacker being able to stand out more. Why has Greaves stood out more then KLP this season, we’ve defended a hell of a lot more then we’ve attacked. He’s further ahead in his development but when you’re in a position where you’re doing your job alot more frequently you’re always going to develop at it quicker. Surely you can see that. I really hope he stays with us and kicks on next season with better players around him. One top pass into him tonight and he scored… I agree on your point about his overall impact, was saying it to the people I watched the second half with. Although by that point the team seemed to be in cruise control. He did his job as a forward though and gave Carsley food for thought for Monday. Although after the season he’s just had I think he’s due a well earned break. No one else in that side is even close to him in terms of career appearances bar Max Aarons.
As I only saw the second half like most people and to be fair I felt he just didn't see enough of the ball, as most of the play seemed to go down the left. Hoever, I am certainly in the camp whereby I think he has more room to develop and another year in the Championship could be beneficial.
Yeah me too. I think he has the potential to explode next season with some of the midfielders we are bringing in.
KLP with an assist tonight. Whoever gets Archer on loan this season will have a very good forward. Hopefully it’s us. Villa might even keep him around and break him into their first team though.
Poor performance, move the ball too slowly, looked to be going through the motions, livened up when KLP came on, and good assist, As said my Kalman, Archer would be a good one to get on loan.
Shame he didn't get longer but made a more than useful appearance off the bench. Plenty of City fans there. A more relaxed, enjoyable trip to that bloody place for once, albeit another defeat for a team I wanted to win!
Only just had chance to come back to this. I think Brennan is an interesting one. He obviously did very well at Lincoln, but I did notice that in the games we played against them, he was marked out of it quite effectively and quite easily. I watched a decent amount of Lincoln last year and for the most part, he ripped sides to shreds. It obviously benefitted him massively in the counter attacking style but it really impressed me how well he took to the loan. Loans really aren't easy, and as fans we only judge what goes on on the pitch, but it's also a young kid moving away from home and many really struggle with that (understandably). He was still very raw last year but you watch him now and he's much more refined. I think the experience of going on loan and growing up has helped him as much as the clearly better players at Forest. He's grown up quick, that's for sure. Greaves is another interesting one. I just love his progression. He struggled at the start of the season quite a bit, especially with the physicality, pace and power of Championship forwards but he's so much better now and looking really classy. With defenders, you've got to throw into the mix that they develop later than forwards too. So a young kid playing 46 games in the championship when he's 20/21 is pretty much unheard-of. You get quality players like Nathan Collins playing 6 months and then leaving for 8 figures so it does put it into perspective. I get your point about playing defensively so it makes him look better, it probably does, but he's also been the senior figure really back there and that's far from ideal. It would've been great if he was the inexperienced one and along 2 more experienced CBs. I thought Monday was just about the best I've seen KLP play in his cameo. He was positive, direct, and his decision making was excellent. He created 2 big chances, and they should both have been goals really. He couldn't have done more. I just like that level way more often
