He makes a lot of runs in behind does our Keane, doesn’t get the ball very often though. Sideways and backwards, too safe not emotion in this game at all
It's always tough when you're given a start and then played out of position. He's never looked comfortable when played on the right for us. Agree with him being too safe though. Harvey Elliott is fantastic though and Archer is very clinical
He didn't see a lot of the ball in the 2nd half, most moves were down the left, plus the right side is not his best position,
Stroll on a park pitch. One or two meaty challenges that made me whince. Not sure why he stuck KLP wide right. Only touched the ball in the 2nd half on a handful of occasions. Game won on 60 mins against a game team, with shades of San Marino.
In the squad there's a pretty clear split of the elite talents and then those that are good. There's that leading pack of Elliott, Curtis Jones, Gordon, Madueke when he's fit, Ramsey, ESR etc. You can probably throw in Archer, Balogun, Aarons, Spence and maybe one or 2 others too. Then there's those who weren't available this time round like Bellingham, Gallagher, Skipp, Guehi and Sessegnon but are all class acts. Then there's the rest of the squad, and there is a big gap and it does drop off.
Elliot and Ramsey are in a league of their own compared to the rest of them. KLP tore Spence a new one at the City Ground so to suggest they’re not in the same category is silly. Balogun hardly impressed at Boro either..
I don't think they are in the same league at all. Spence is going to Spurs for £20m quid. That's a tonne of money for a championship full back and he's going to play regularly there. One off performances are fine, but they aren't at the same level, if they were a CL side would be coming in for KLP KLP was great at Forest, he was completely unplayable. The problem is you can count on one hand how many times we saw him put in performances of that quality this season.
They aren’t one off performances though are they, he’s terrorised a lot of championship defenders. How many CL teams have bought championship forwards in recent years? Not even comparable… Do wonder why you feel the need to downplay him all the time
1 hand what a load of ****e He wouldn’t be getting linked with £15m+ moves if he had 5 (or 6 if you’re a south banker)very good performances in a season. We scored 41 goals this season KLP contributed to 37% of them.
Name them... He's not a £15m player, he's just not. I watch a lot of football from around Europe and a player with his potential, record and age is a worth a fraction of £15m. But as he's English and plays in the Championship, his value sky rockets. One of my favourite players to watch recently has been Marcus Edwards, he's had a couple of decent years at Vitoria and earnt a move to Sporting in Jan and done well for them. He went for less than £15m despite being young, and doing well in a decent league. Look at Mikautadze, similar to KLP in a lot of respects, young and half decent scoring record in a lesser league for a bottom end side. What's he going to cost us? A few million You do have a tendency to overhype our kids. Didn't you say that Snelgrove and Jarvis could do a job for us very recently? Jarvis couldn't get in York's side and had to go to Scarborough and Snelgrove was in the Northern Premier League Division One East.
I think in a way Bowen's success is directly impacting on the bidding war around KLP as people don't want to miss out on the next Bowen.
You've contradicted yourself there. Not many CL clubs buy Championship players, and the ones that do go are usually the top ones. Therefore, by Spurs taking Spence, it proves he's one of the top ones. I don't downplay him, I just say it how I see it and tonight was usual story for KLP. He's scored but he was pretty anonymous for most the game we could actually see. He was a bit quieter than usual, but it was a similar type of performance we've seen for him many times this year. And Kosovo were extremely limited opposition. That's undoubtedly true. Lots of clubs passed on Bowen and it was clearly the wrong decision. It's not massive money either and even if it doesn't work out, he'll still carry a decent amount of value so it's understandable
Why did you use value to make the comparison with Djed Spence then? And no I said I hope they get a chance in pre season because they’re both very talented lads. Preston away, Boro home, Barnsley away, Brum home, Forest away, Blunts away,, Cov away, Reading away just off the top of my head. Watched every game this season bar QPR away
I didn’t say players I said forwards. Not contradicting myself at all. Plenty of championship players making the step up in deeper positions in recent years. Adam Webster, Phillips, Maddison. How many forwards have taken to the premier league with ease? Che Adams yet to break double figures, Adam Armstrong coming back to the championship. Haven’t contradicted myself at all because I clearly said championship forwards… You can call it overhyping all you want, I support our lads especially homegrown, you just can’t wait to **** on him. He’s scored in 2 minutes on his u21 debut and you just couldn’t wait 5 minutes to start pointing out negative. He was making loads of runs in behind but the midfield was just happy to keep hold of the ball which is a common theme of u21 games.
Because fullbacks go for significantly less than forwards. You've named 8, and there's some questionable ones in there, so thanks for proving my point.
