Yes it's in the Cotswolds in a place called Nailsworth which is according to Wikipedia less than a fifth the size of Beverley.

That's a bit of a fiddle, it's on the outskirts of Stroud and the population in the local borough is well over 100k.

Looking on the map there's several miles of countryside between the two. Nailsworth isn't really on the outskirts of Stroud. Also Stroud has its own team, the mighty Stroud AFC, so why would the Stroudonians travel 4.1 miles to support the hated Nailsworth?

Then the post saying Torquay has a population of 65,000 is a bigger fiddle. There are nearly 150,000 people nearer to Torquay's stadium in a lesser area than the one you are quoting.

It sounds like the GY manager has been hounded by their local armchair managers.
He's a cure for insomnia when he's on Mudbank, can't envisage him giving a Churchillian address or a Warnock rant to inspire his players.

    Quite.
"The Yorkshire Ripper is our friend, he kills Yorkies"
These chaps had some objectionable chants in the old days. I personally was not traumatised nor did I back demands for a cctv witch hunt, and my motive for trawling (parp!) up this chant was to demonstrate the unsavoury sentiments that some Grimsby folk nurture towards us North Humbersiders.

They're a strange lot in Grimsby.

They have a chip on their shoulder about Hull. They still think they got a bum deal from the Humberside County Council merger then de-merger.
They actually think they own half the Ice Arena. And Hull got millions of pounds thrown at when Prescott was DPM.

And some of their vowel pronounciations are weird (or weighed as they'd say)

You're right I lived in Cleethorpes and worked in GY for 2 years, ( I think you know where), and they hate us with a passion.

I remember hearing about an old bloke from Grimsby. His son got married, but turned up back at the family home on his wedding night, saying he'd left her, because she'd told him she was a virgin.

The old boy told him he'd done the right thing because "if she wasn't good enough for her family, she's not good enough for ours".

    No North Humberside thank you.

I know some people think it's pedantic but loads of out of towners think it's a real place and that we're not in Yorkshire which does my head in. Anything that encourages that irritates me.

They're only one league higher than Ferriby! Ferriby are more of a rival for them than us, I'm just pleased the footballing gods seem to be smiling on those less fortunate in our region.
