Whatever the rights and wrongs mob rule should never succeed, or else where does it stop.

Indeed, seemingly now that criminal damage is no longer an offence in the UK, can I go to where they live and smash their windows because I don't agree with their version of democracy?

I have no time for Boris or the Tories at present. They are a bunch of liars and cheats who are only interested in themselves and don't know or understand the common people or understand what the priorities and common decency should be.
However, much though I'd like to blame the Tories over yet another failure on their part with these people being acquitted, it's the system that's too blame not the government.

Agree with this with the caveat, do labour or the lib dumbs understand the common people or common decency are they not liars and cheats as well.

7 labour MP's have jailed in the past 10 years, Blair gets a knighthood despite his Iraq war lies, a dodgy property in Bristol sometime ago and more recent London property deal where £312k in tax was avoided by using an offshore account and today the wonderful socialists that the Blairs are (worth allegedly 60mil) claimed 80k in furlough payments for their staff and best of all Jimmy Saville's and the Rochdale and Rotherham grooming gangs mate is supporting him. If labour or the lib dumbs truly understood the common people, they would not have lost all of the northern seats in the last election and ironically Starmer and a few others in the labour party after that election, still did not get why millions of lifelong labour supporters abandoned them, intimating they were probably racist having voted for Brexit as well, i'm sure that went down well with the common people.

The system is fecked the quality of MP's in this country is shocking, Claudia Webbe MP recently convicted of a crime is still allowed to draw a wage, that we are paying.

Agreed !

But with the latest revelations about a No. 10 garden party for Boris, his Wife and 40 odd others in May 2020 whilst earlier in the same day Oliver Dowden had told the entire population they could only meet 1 person outside at a distance of 2 metres, Boris should be sacked.
This is just the latest piss take in the ever growing line of failings not restricted to

Migrant crisis
Cummings
Government Parties
Being a weak leader
Not dealing with the French effectively over fishing and migration from their shores
Net Zero, including reliance on Wind Power
Not reforming the NHS before giving them billions more to waste on highly paid administrators while 20 ambulances wait outside hospitals.

He will be the only leader of any party that I can ever remember who will likely blow what was an almost unassailable lead in the polls that he had just 2 years ago. Yes it's mid-term now, but on this occasion, people won't forget what a hypocrite and a liar he and his government have been whilst wasting tens of billions of pounds of public money that it will take generations to repay.

And the final insult ? Raising National Insurance from April.

We've been through a tough time and had he been honest with people, then they would likely take his side, but I, and millions like me won't trust the Tories ever again.

I think you're right on this one!

I was and still am, angry about the whole Colston debacle but the strange thing is, I can't really give a toss about the revelations re these parties. Even more strange is that I don't know why I don't give a toss!! I really should, but I don't.

Is it because I've become immune to the "shock" of these stories? Is it because I now have an expectation that they will do as they please whatever?

I really don't know, but unless the Tories sort themselves out, all of this will come back to bite them on the arse big time!!

Because poor and unprincipled has become the standard you adjust your expectations. Your reactions thus adjust to your expectations - Indifference.

Angelic,
Can't agree more with the above, they are useless human beings. We are being treated like fools and they are just taking the p*ss.

But here's the dilemma for me.
Would the 'left' be more effective.
On the migrant crisis ? Not a chance.
They'd be arranging charter flights.
Dealing with the French on fishing or anything European? Not a chance.
The 'remainer' left would agree to any Brussels edict. And TBF we have handled the jab programme far far better than Europe, half of us wouldn't be jabbed if we hadn't gone on our own ordering vaccines.
The 'left' would have had us in permanent lock down, even worse than the 'left' in Wales and Scotland. And how many nationalists came across the border for New Year ?

Yes, we certainly deserve far better and yes the government could and should have done better.
Would the 'left', Starmer, Rayner, Milliband etc be better ?
They scare me even more than the useless bunch in power.

For balance I live in Wales , our COVID measures have been much better the Englands and Mark Drakeford has at least stuck to them unlike Boris

nearly 20 years ago I retired, and whilst I have kept myself busy .. working part time to help out and to fulfil my own means I have had loads of time to "meditate" over the past present and future. I have never been impatient, always looked at the bigger picture and endeavoured to help others along with also keeping fit.
We all have opinions, and rightly so, a human trait, some peeps opinion at times dont tally up and their expressions are sometimes at odds to each other. Others get lost in their attempt to use phraseology that is not always pertinent to the subject matter in hand, it takes all sorts to be part of humanity.
Hey guess what, END OF YEAR FESTIVITIES are over and there is very little negative news. No tsunami's, no major aircrash no natural catastrophe like volcano/ mudslides or avalanches ..thank heavens. Our thoughts do go out for the families that lost loved ones in the terrible fire in the Bronx. Although the wider picture does seem to point out that the fire doors within that block had allegedly been wedged open!!!!
How amazing is it that things that took part over or up to a year ago suddenly become the headlines!.. = because it is negative news and half the population jump on the band wagon, the other half at the time were probably ignoring COVID RULES THEMSELVES! Now I am not in anyway condoning the latest out burst jumped on by the opposition. I prefer the story to be resolved before being sucked into the vacuum of right wrong happened as first said or didnt happen as posted!

I look on Angelic's list, a list it is of some of the events over the past 2 years with no interpretation of what the answer might be or the cause!

Not reforming the NHS before giving them billions more to waste on highly paid administrators
It would be a miracle to reform the NHS in less than 2 years in normal times let alone with a pandemic in full swing let alone Brexit just having been secured!
Migrants .. how many have actually died crossing the channel? more than we know of, the tidal currents of the channel would not necessarily wash bodies on the shores between Dover Calais! But how do we, the UK stop them? Bear in mind we paid £m's over 70m in one report for extra police to stop them sailing, if the French are to be believed they have arrested over 150 confiscated dozens of boats and relieved them of 000's of Euro's !!! How do we stop them????
Dont understand the wind power one!
Fishing has been resolved, when you look at the start and the finish you can see how many French fishermen tried jumping on the band wagon. the CEO/ Owner of a company doesnt do all the work himself ... hence board rooms>> senior management>>> regional & area management etc etc down to the tea person! .GOV is the same. Boris oversaw the minister for fisheries doing what was in the script operating to the line in the sand. Macron didnt want the migrants so let them get away with murder !! literally!! used it /tried to as a blackmail to get more permits ...we stuck to it. In the end the result was they got a handful extra not a few hundred to a thousand. Dont forget the fishery agreement runs for the next few years and is getting smaller per initial quota...!
Cummings a real a**wipe, spin doctor advisor egoistic self important person. At a time, the beginning when there was grey areas he set out to exploit it to own advantage/ selfishness. A CEO of a company delegates to people he trusts, when you ask them a question you expect an answer the truth... CUMMINGS WAS ALIAR! of course the opposition and media made hay.............

A weak leader, very debateable , a leader in an environment of stress not seen since the 40's he has suffered more stressful events in 2 years than the Pm's of 1939 to 1949 added together. After the war we had a debt which took decades to overcome AND 8 YEARS TO BUILD UP! .. rationing not being the least of these ... today we have an economy almost as strong as when covid struck. £tr has been spent in the past 2 years.. imagine UTOPIA... no covid so no spending £500bn on keeping jobs spending on vaccines PPE, hospital equipment etc etc but still managing to increase police and hospital stafffing and commencing on the expansion and improvement of the NHS in these evil covid times ...

millions in this country benefitted from furlough, some abused it just a few been caught out ....so far! these millions who because the .gov is making OLD age more affordable to the worthy are now complaining no job then you dont pay... so how about giving back all your furlough money, so no workers so companies go bust so no jobs you are now out of work and dont have to pay from APRIL!!!!

Afternoon RP
Sigh - And depressingly that's the worst part, the Labour party with all of the skeletons in their closet, loony tendencies, Rayner, Lammy, and to a lesser degree our dear Lord Mayor that we still don't need, are still far worse than the arrogant, money wasting, lying lot run by Boris.
We left the EU for a reason, because we voted for it - with or without the full facts and implications being known I grant you.
IMHO we should write ourselves out of the ECHR (European Commission on Human Rights) asap and we would then be able to treat all illegals as trespassers and deport them without challenge. It would also stop all the scum lawyers saying that they have a right to stay here and wasting everyone's time whilst lining their pockets.

Sorry AshtonRed but from where I'm standing Wales and Scotland (particularly) are examples of a modern day Gestapo. I truly despise Sturgeon and her stupid political games.

JGF2 - Boris continues to put his faith in us producing electricity generated by wind farms and huge grants are given to landowners (probably Government ministers!) for having a turbine on their land. But when the wind doesn't blow, we don't generate squat.
We need to use the small Nuclear Power Stations that have been designed by Rolls Royce and also start fracking for natural gas. We used to be energy independent. Now we buy gas from the Russians and electricity from France.

The tax to stop people losing their homes. In 2009 Banes council [ care responsibiltyfor my mother ] had a meeting with us mother was in hospital and when she would be discharged her care visits would be 2 times a day. Their opening gambit was "your mother has house worth £x we would like you to consider selling it and we will find a place for her in a home" At the end of 2011 unbeknown to me my brother had her put in a home against every wish my mother had. I [ have probably said loads of times] worked for legal people QC'S and the like. I got advice.. didnt sell the house used all the loopholes ... mother's deterioration was extremely rapid went from walking and making tea food etc etc to being bedridden in a month and so sad at being forced into a 10 x1 2 foot room she passed on a couple months later.
My mother was widowed 35 years before she passed, she scrimped and saved to pay the mortgage and build her home she wanted to "die in her own house" The council didnt give a sh** what she wanted, 3 days after she died a letter came asking for the money they were owed. A chat at one point, a representative of BANES stated that people like my mother have to pay to make up for people who live in rented who do not pay ... so, I am afraid, I am 100% behind the increase in NI to contribute it is long overdue...

we have bought electricity from France for decades ....
Fracking .. you may remember from some of my posts what my hobby often entails and fracking in this country is not as amenable as the USA. Our shales are less amenable to it [ besides being shallower with less gas ] Off the coast of Dorset [ PURBECK ] they drill for oil its not deep but miles out to sea. I dont think they do public tours, but I have been around the plant and seen the control rooms the pipe layouts etc etc it is amazing... but not fracking! the "wellheads" on land are 5 or 6 miles from the oil!

As a Labour voter I find the lefts obsession with identity politics worrying. Being patriotic about your class, community, birthplace and history is not a disease. Facts and reality are not offence. Put that in power and I fear for the populace with traditional outlooks v the lefts progressive politics.

The Conservatives majority is so vast, even Boris cant **** this up, but he is working very hard on his hypocrisy, impropriety and untrustworthiness. He may actually get worse yet. His plumbing of the depths seems to go deeper and deeper, you think he can't get worse but he manages it.

Typical of ingrated LABOURITE whether "new" "old" "modern" or whatever title they dream up next to rebrand themselves ... bit like chocolate or food out of favour so rebrand it and hope no one notices the mouldy old dough wrapped in a different outer ...!
I am not attached to any party .. when the time comes I look at it all the pluses the negatives .. whether country has moved forward in all aspects especially financially...

That's also somewhat depressingly true.

Personally the Church of England have been conspicuous by their absence in most things over the last few years, particularly when lockdowns were first implemented, and they should play a more vocal part in life. We are a Christian country after all. And no, I'm not religious but it helps with national identity for the vast majority of the inhabitants.

I would also like to see us return to being a nation that plays the national anthem regularly and people should be encouraged to fly English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish flags, or even, the Union Jack. Let's have some pride back, and our history retained intact, be that good or bad, not erased from history because a couple of people don't like it. It's not their call !

I sympathise with the whole thing, it's obscene when people work all their lives to support themselves and then the Government want them to sell up to pay for social care despite every individual having contributed tens if not hundreds of thousands of pounds in tax and NI.
So I would be behind a tax rise had this current lot not been so wasteful with billions of pounds over the last 2 years in apps that didn't work, HS2, giving furlough money to people who claimed it illegally, and when we are currently spending over £4bn a year on housing and processing illegal immigrants in a landmass that's already overcrowded.
Nearly 30,000 crossed the Channel last year, how many times will that multiply by this year and at what added financial burden and security risks ?
And then there is the soaring costs of energy that will hit the poor the hardest, especially when combined with a tax rise. It's immoral.

thats life unfortunately, I was married with a child at 19 and had my own house took out a mortgage when baby was less than 1, had to have an insurance top up thingy to guarantee it ... dont ask how it worked! I had a good job, back then "it was sort of job for life" mortgage was 3.5 times income it was hard... no food banks hand outs or easy peasy money . Mortgage went to 15.5% from initial sort of 5% or less? Fuel like gas and electric had no controlling influence and it just 2 companies one gas 1 electric ETC ETC ... Family allowance on 2 plus no top if you didnt earn enough... get another job or send wife out to work! .... 1 day a week was special like you had a slap up feast / or Sunday dinner that didnt include Baked beans or tinned tomato's . peeps today have it so easy they want more given to them less input.
Woman on the news interviewed leaving a food bank with 4 carriers of food.... waved to the camera as she left in her 3+ year old audi 4x4 [17 plate ] thats todays problem greed .....

It could be typical, or maybe not, or maybe its more ingrated is not a word that exists!
well I use it a often and peeps know what it means, also use it [ probably peeps who dont know of it or says isnt a word are in denial ] ... as does the dictionary apparently, as just looked it up and close enough to fit my meaning
