There is nothing particularly profound or brave to my knowledge, but at least it is an opinion, be that controversial or otherwise. There are any number of examples to Google, here are some;-

On the Vauxhall Vectra VXR: - "there is a word to describe this car. It begins with 's' and ends with ‘t' and it isn't soot."
On the Alfa Romeo Brera - “Think of it as Angelina Jolie. You’ve heard she’s mad and eats nothing but wallpaper paste. But you would, wouldn’t you?”
On the Porsche Cayenne: - "Honestly, I have seen more attractive gangrenous wounds than this. It has the sex appeal of a camel with gingivitis.
On the BMW 1 Series: - "I’m choosing the words for my conclusion with even more care than usual. So here goes. The 1-series is crap."

Yeah, that's just what I thought, it's a bit '3rd form

Yeah, just what I thought, not really funny is it and not really much in the way of opinions?

Not that controversial is it ........... I like this car but I don't like this other car.

Was a matter of time before it was time for the last conservative at the BBC supporter to be able to turn off the energy saving light on his way out.

Whatever ur views of Clarkson I think we should be genuinely worried about the bias propaganda of our media and lack of balance.

Media attracts creative who don't connect with logic or practical or pragmatic thinking.

While comedy is generally only ever ok to be 'punching up'. Clarkson's over the top brash character over-rode this and 'punched down' but now he's gone how many right wing comedians are there? And by that I don't mean bernand manning types.

ITV owner is a massive labour doner. BBC are well known for their left of centre views. Peston is bezzie mates with Ed Balls and Flanders literally ****ed ed miliband and ed balls. While Channel 4 obvious left wing approach. Recent eg there anti-ukip propaganda mockumentary

Russell howards good news on week of thornberry's white van tweet ignored it and instead did a piece on a finge ukip donor.

This country is on dangerous ground. I think it's a genuine problem and this country in the medium term is ****ed. There is no balance and no reflection of the nation's views.

Clarkson's departure and no more Paxman will be picked up on by historians unpicking the demise of balance in propaganda britain

You might well be right (must admit political bias isn't something I'm overtly aware of) but I think it's something that swings over time.

I remember in the mid nineties being told that all but one or two newspapers were Tory but that's not the case now.

I'd suspect it's a case of the people that benefited from the Blair era being in positions of power and it'll realign when the ones afterwards attain similar heights of achievement.

Certainly the voting public aren't being swayed by this and the Tories should have (albeit via coalition) another five years to redress any imbalance in the media.

I think most topical programs (either comedic or serious QT types) will always take a view of challenging the party in power because challenging the opposition is like attacking air - there's nothing of substance to claw at).

I like Russell Howard and would put money on him being Liberal rather than one of the main two.

You make it sound as if Clarkson has something important to say.

We must defend his right to be a racist, sexist, homophobe.

Well that's an overly dramatic way of putting it but yes that is exactly the point.

You make him sound more extreme then he is. Most of what he says is said is tongue in cheek.

Liberals tend to be very sensitive to people with views or comments they don't like and through in sensationalist sweeping statements like yours, "racist" "sexist" "waa waa wa"

Part of Clarkson's success because he plays 2 audiences at once. He know's what to see to send liberals into a spin chucking out comments like yours and get off on having a go and shouting down and sneering at someone with opinions and comments you do not like.

Then he also thrived with the audience like me who enjoyed him winding people up and every now and the pointing out the idiocy and hypocrisy of an over-bearing nanny state.

For me it's a bigger issue then Clarkson. Its a purge in the media (including comedy) of anything right of centre.

I genuinely see this as having serious negative long term consequences

That's my point. Russel Howard is extremely on the left. And his programme is often very anti-UKIP and very anti-tory.

But when the biggest news story ofthe week came up with Emily Thornberry's white van tweet he didn't mention it.

Now the editors, producers etc shouldn't have allowed this but the main reason is that it sums up his and a lot of comedians approach and this links with the view of many on left;

If some one doesn't agree with you sneer at them because the answers they are either racist, sexist or stupid.

You mean ............... there'll be no one to have a pop at people owning caravans or not wearing jeans in their 50's <yikes>

Hmmmm!! I'm a bit concerned that this post is descending into an argument. Not what was intended. I think you all know my views on most of the ugly subjects that have reared their collective heads during the thread, so I won't comment. What I will say is that what was intended as a light hearted post is not going the way I thought it would and I'm genuinely sorry for that. However, I don't believe in censorship of any kind, so I am not going to ask the mods to close it down, that is their decision.

On a personal note, the BBC seem keen to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Or are the rumours of a HUGE U turn true?

Oh dear, how terribly traumatic this must be ......... some people have a different opinion to you <doh>

That wasn't what I asked you dullard. I'll ask again 'Where have I mentioned that they differ from mine?' Which was what your post accused me of being sensitive of. Also, can you quote me verbatim where I have asked the mods to close down the thread? No, you can't, because I didn't. How thick can you get?????

If everyone has the same opinion as you then there can't be an argument can there idiot?

How thick can you get?

You're inviting/suggesting the Mods close the thread down because of what?

"However, I don't believe in censorship of any kind, so I am not going to ask the mods to close it down, that is their decision."

Why would the Mods close a thread down because there's an argument ..... an 'argument' isn't the end of civilisation as we know it <doh>

Look at the 606 homepage ..... comment, 'debate', create.

I'd imagine you work in an office <ok>

Completely what I expected, you CANNOT quote me verbatim, because the quote does not exist!!!! Hilarious!!!! What a tool!!!!! Also, well done on COMPLETELY missing the point. 10/10 for that!! BTW, I don't work in an office and I imagine you don't work at all as, from your manner of your posts, you are still in nursery school.

So you're quite happy for the thread to continue and allow people to post their opinion in an honest debate <ok>

If not, ask the Mods to close it down and I'll create another.
