Evans has dismissed the rumours as rubbish you'll be glad to hear Rhino. Still can't believe y'all can tax a 5 liter V8 in the UK for just a few hundred notes. That's the way it should be. You probably get hit by other taxes though like Council rates or summat so I suppose it all evens itself out in the end.
The Independent said that, and the papers all jumped on the bandwagon. And the Independent don't like Clarkson cos he speaks his mind. Ironic really, given their rag's name...
well, The BBC have shot themselves in the foot financially... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32052736 So BBC Top Gear with Clarkson is no more. I get the impression from what they say on Twitter that Hammond and May are possibly going to reject their new contracts as well. Which means the demise of TG on the Beeb. They will carry on making it though, just need a new home. It needs to go to Dave. I really, really hope it doesn't go to ITV...
The BBC own the rights to Top Gear and so a programme of the same (or similar) name won't turn up on another channel. Evans won't do Top Gear ... but look out for him fronting a "totally new format" car show on the BBC. Probably called "Car Fest" (which I believe the BBC owns the rights to the name) Chris Evans champions Carfest on his Radio 2 show and is heavily involved in its production which, at the moment, is a vehicle (no pun intended) for raising money for Children in Need.
The NAME 'top Gear' maybe, but not the format surely? Otherwise there would be no other car-related shows. They can't 'own segments such as The News, or three blokes driving across a country in motors, or Drive A Car Fast Round A Track, or even Celebrity Drive A Cheap Motor Round A Track. Definately there's no problem with Drive A Car And Say What It's Like (with Humorous Overtones) . The character of The Stig may be a problem, but outside of that I'm not sure there's be any issues, as long as they didn't actually say the words Top Gear outside of actually changing into whatever the car's top gear was.
I used to really enjoy top gear but have been less fussed about it of late. I think the show was starting to run out of steam a little, or should I say petrol.
People dont realy give Clarkson the credit as an entertainer, as it's him that has carried and sold the show worldwide. There's a lot of youth oriented pish on the BBC - which to me is a waste of time as any youngster is out drinking cheap lager and necking legal highs - not sat at home watching BBC. So I see why this show was so popular with alot of people, although not being a petrolspotter it's passed me by. However, I still dont get "he's the only one who speaks his mind". You've still got the equally annoying Brand, Ross, Boyle etc who still speak their mind!
May has as good as said on his doorstep today that the three of them are a team going forward. When asked who would be a suitable replacement, May said, "I know he's a knob, but I like Clarkson..." I predict Top Gear will continue, and be presented by Tess Daly when she doesn't have Strictly commitments. The terrible three will start a programe on Channel 4 identical in most respects to the old TG format, entitled "Stig".
And just started on BBC3...... The Episode where the three chaps build motorhomes and get away from it all... They really don't think the scheduling through, do they?
Fox will pick it up .................Murdoch was doing his best to suck up yesterday by supporting Clarkson. Now, Clarkson will make double or triple of what he got from the BBC. Syndication rights and all that. He'll never have to work again. Think I have a great idea for a new show, it goes something like this .................
