Who would want him? Hasn't played a full season in years, had 2 major injuries and doesn't look to be pulling up trees here. He won't get a better contract than he is on now.
Agree, doesn't stop him wanting out though..

Townsend was highlighted before everyone except lichaj, our first signing. We've made plenty of signngs but not Townsend. Educated guess we weren't that bothered about him. But we highlighted to others he was available and we got a sell on fee for that.
Canny

Or we tried getting him on the cheap knowing we had a percentage stake in any potential transfer, so we tried for 40% less than market value.

It's so ****ing easy to make a low bid knowing it won't be accepted, but the many gullible fans will see it as the club are trying hard to do business.

I think you have to be balanced in all situations and in this case, in my opinion, it was win/win. I'd have liked CT back at a fair price, but instead, we've probably just cobbled some cash together for another 300k transfer fee from nowhere.

Possibly, without our interest, he could have remained at Scunny, ran out his contract and we'd have got **** all.

The team who comes last in the Premier League gets about 100 million and then another 85 million in parachute payments, and we are bigging up deals we have done for 2 - 3 hundred grand. Wow.
