The problem with a big lad up front is that it increases the likelyhood that we’ll just launch the ball up to him constantly. And as we play with one up front, it means we wouldn’t have anybody to play it off to.
Nobody needs a big striker, it suits some teams but I don’t think it’s ever suited us having a target man.
It does when we play the formation we’re planning on playing. Bringing the wingers and Toral/Irvine into play. Dicko certainly can’t do that job (as much as I rate him) nor can he get on crosses from the wingers.
A big man doesn’t mean you ‘lump’ it up front all the time. That would more be down to poor coaching/instruction.
