If you don't find calling someone a dipshit a form of abuse then I don't know what to tell you. Was I negative on Akpom, Haydon, Clucas, Taylor, or Odubajo? In fact I think I defended Akpom's lack of goals and the concerns over Taylor's fitness. Me thinking that Maloney at 32 years old costing us 1.5m in a position we'd just bought a kid was a needless signing, and me thinking that Dio's goalscoring record in Norway hardly a cause for wild celebrations is hardly me being negative any more than you writing Clucas off to justify us bringing Maloney in.
 
How many loan signings do you think we will bring in?

I thinking 2.

A Goalkeeper and possibly either a central midfielder or a left back.

I think Luer will go out on loan and he'll bring another two strikers in, which we need anyway. Probably Gayle and Wilson.

Have the Premier league teams announced their squads yet? I suspect a few well-known players will be out in the cold needing game time. ;)

When we scouted Diomande, we would have looked at his goals to game ratio, shots on target, etc etc.. thats purely stats. Id then like to think we sent scouts to watch him, making notes of his work rate, movement off the ball, style of play, strength and so on..

Lets forget what league he's played in so far in his career. A striker mainly scores goals when they are put on a plate, crosses, through balls, rebounds etc.. but most importantly the player has to be in the right place at the right time. Only very good strikers can create goals out of nothing.

From watching his highlights on youtube (yes we know...) the first thing I thought was he reminds me of a certain Andre Gray. Both a similar height, build, style.. Both strong, quick, good feet. Similar types of goals scored too.

It looks like not only will this guy put away a good amount of chances, but he'll work hard and create opportunities for himself to score goals.

Forget his price tag or him being fairly unknown, he might just score the goals this season that see us promoted.

That is a good compilation of his game skills. I know that it can be folly to judge on edited YouTube clips, but these are all quite thorough and focus the watcher on certain skills - I have also seen others. There are a few things that really stand-out for me:

Pace - it is blistering over long and short distance; he has excellent acceleration and a natural ability to maintain his spatial awareness when moving and jinking with or without the ball. That is something we have seriously lacked, as Aluko was the hope, but he just ends up on his arse blaming folk because he ran into a player and lost the ball. I seriously think this kid can show him a trick or two.
Timing - it is bloody good. He takes all manner of goals: high-headers; low diving-headers; all manner of crosses, at speed, to his feet or space or he can run from angles and create his own opportunities. He really does seem to have the all round game.
Touch - some of the close stuff when beating a man looks a tad clumsy, but he gets it through, he is confident and that is a huge factor - he'll get bounced, no doubt about that, but that will make him smarter. His final touch is always extremely positive, not weak, but well taken goals which we know is what is needed in our team.
Accuracy - strong positive touch is no good if it always straight at the GK, something we have suffered for years - this kid seems to consistently pick his spot and the speed of it bodes well for moving over here.
Strength - he gets in the mix, he stays up, he wins through and he is still developing. He only knows one direction, forwards and he just runs through whoever is in his way. It really is very encouraging!
Depth - I have always used this to describe how much of the pitch a striker can and will use to develop his game. This lad is comfortable as a poacher and he seems equally comfortable to come deep and build a move, or run to support a team-mate. He seems to tick all of the boxes on depth!

I don't know about anyone else but I can only go back to Nick Barmby as a player who looked quite so bloody promising, what a pity Nick is not able to get on the training ground with him and add his polish and nous into the mix. Fingers crossed, I really do believe we have a winner here.

It's pretty difficult to take you seriously when you say that you're not being negative when you post negative garbage like this.

We all know that he's never played in the English leagues before but neither had players like Michu. Would you prefer it if others clubs brought players like this in and we then pay a massive, not to mention unaffordable, premium fir them a season or two later?

To compare the Norwegian league that he played in to the Conference is highly negative to my mind. I wonder if Brentford would have signed Andre Gray if the decision had been yours, after all he was 'only' a Conference player.

There's no 'ganging up' on Sydney, just a lot of like minded individuals that aren't too keen on his negative spin on things.

Don't see what part of the post you've highlighted indicates I thought we'd made a mistake in signing him. Just pointing out that scoring 17 in 21 which one poster said was 'good in any league' isn't really that great. Yes Norway is better than the Conference, it was an extreme example, but it was a response to the 'good in any league' comment, not a direct comparison of the Norwegian league. I hope he'll be a great signing for us, and even if he isn't, 1.7m isn't that big an outlay.

In all honesty if you'd highlighted the second part of that post you would have had a better case to make about me being negative than the first part.

Genuine question, how were their first seasons in England?

EDIT: Had a quick squiz. If he can replicate those players then that would be fantastic. I suppose I'm a bit coloured by the failures at Cardiff who moved over from Norway because Ole Gunnar Solskaer thought they were brilliant.
