So when would you call anybody a winger?I don't call Right/Left-mids wingers, but I guess we'll agree to disagree.

Growing up I was always an Aussie rules supporter, where the three midfielders are called the 'rovers' or 'followers', with 'wingers' called flankers, so terminology has never been a strong suit.
Still not sure what you call the middle and forward two widemen in a 4-3-3, I guess you'd have 4 wingers?
You mean with inside forwards and centre halfs?Guess I'm wrong then. I've always considered wingers as wide players who play up top flanking a lone striker. Oh well, I guess back when i was a kid learning positions of FIFA was the wrong thing to do.
Of course it doesn't. Don't believe any of your glorious leader's heavily distorted garbage. The fact that you seem to suggests why you're one of his low-life "followers". I should also clarify his "I was right" dig: I am these days "not employed" because I will turn 70 in six weeks' time. I retired several years ago after 42 years of continuous service, and NOT as a "two-bob teacher" as he so demeaningly termed it. You and Little Quilly need to take a long, hard look at yourselves. It's not too late to turn things around and possibly become decent people. It's probably too late for Benny Boy.
how is a player "intangible"?It's like buying an intangible asset which has tax consequences.
So when would you call anybody a winger?
A player isn't intangible. Their contract is.how is a player "intangible"?
is it because you can't touch them anymore on the field?
the first question was serious..

People are only going to be in the final third at certain phases of play. Full backs may be there sometimes. When they are out wide flanking a striker on the wings. Guess I've seen the wings as the wide area in the final third, not the wide area all up and down the pitch. Different perspective.

Stick the transfer update page on a one page sticky with only mod access to change if and when we sign or sell someone. Then bin it on Sept 2nd.
Teams move as a unit nowadays. They attack together and defend together.Sure but that's like saying Strikers will sometimes be in our box so they could be considered defenders some of the time. The predominant aim of the forward three players is to hang around the final third.
Anyway, I'm wrong, I've explained where I was mistaken, it's fine.![]()
He can't. I've instructed him to stop swearing so much. But I can. **** off, Benny Boy. There, that's done with it.
best stick to contract law mate! The player's contract is the intangible asset I believe.
Though with my classification of wingers I may well be wrong on this too.![]()
So back to my original point then.. if Maloney is being brought in to play on a wing, that displaces either Clucas or Odubajo I would assume.. or are we going to play a diamond midfield with him as an attacking midfielder and Huddlestone or Meyler to sit deep?
Odubajo is being played as an attacking full back.So back to my original point then.. if Maloney is being brought in to play on a wing, that displaces either Clucas or Odubajo I would assume.. or are we going to play a diamond midfield with him as an attacking midfielder and Huddlestone or Meyler to sit deep?
Odubaju is currently playing right back, so it's not going to affect him.
Maloney is a far better option than Clucas, at least from what we've seen so far, he can also play more centrally if required.
best stick to contract law mate!
