I've just learned that transfer fees aren't levied and are tax exempt accounted for as an expense...

Incredible!!!

That means 99% of our countries football clubs with the obscene amounts of money floating around in the sport actually offer **** all to the countries economy, except via the income tax of the players they employ (who are actually paid in this country).

The amount of clubs that actually post a profit could be counted on one hand.

****ing swines

The NFL is a tax exempt non profit, think about that the next time you watch the Super Bowl and they are selling TV commercial spots for 5 mill for 30 sec of airtime.

Akpom, Gayle , Abel Hernandez and Aluko all very similar style players. I like Gayle but the fact they are all two similar is worrying.

Although in the first half, I felt Hernandez and Akpom complimented each other well

A transfer fee is like buying someone out of his contract isn't it? I suppose if in the wider world that sort of thing isn't taxed then it couldn't be done just for football.

It was wrong, transfer fees are taxed at standard rate VAT. The football league also issues a 5% levy on every single transfer payment, whether its compensation, transfer fee, loan fee, addon, sell on fee etc.

I also read something that said the player and agent generally take around 10% of every transfer fee between them, provided the player didn't request the move in writing.

Add to that lot any sell on fees which are calculated on the original total value of the transfer.

Its a bit of a gray area though as transfer fees are generally all undisclosed and the details aren't published so we've no idea if the amounts we see are pre or post all these payments. I would imagine they are the total sums though before any liabilities.

Gayle being about 5 and a half foot tall I don't expect we'll have any more success from the 30 crosses a game we swing in from the flanks. Wouldn't be my choice; in fact I'd rather keep what we have than spunk even £6m on him. Mind you, I won't believe it until I get the chance to say 'How far away is he?' when he steps out of the tunnel at the KC

This will upset Bengals Tiger ;)
Of course it doesn't. Don't believe any of your glorious leader's heavily distorted garbage. The fact that you seem to suggests why you're one of his low-life "followers". I should also clarify his "I was right" dig: I am these days "not employed" because I will turn 70 in six weeks' time. I retired several years ago after 42 years of continuous service, and NOT as a "two-bob teacher" as he so demeaningly termed it. You and Little Quilly need to take a long, hard look at yourselves. It's not too late to turn things around and possibly become decent people. It's probably too late for Benny Boy.

This is exactly like so many other deals we've tried & I can't believe we're going to chase an older player for £1 million less who is probably not as good as Gray, IMO, from what I remember of Gayle was **** in most games. He only seems to score against Liverpool!
Gayle is only 1 year and change older and is 25. He isn't exactly old and should still improve. Also he might very well score more in the championship than Gray, who knows, he hasn't even been in the league since he was 22.
