It's in the audio interview with Bruce which I think has been posted by the club and Radio Humberside.

How can you say that any of them are like Aluko?Akpom, Gayle , Abel Hernandez and Aluko all very similar style players. I like Gayle but the fact they are all two similar is worrying.
Although in the first half, I felt Hernandez and Akpom complimented each other well
It's like buying an intangible asset which has tax consequences.A transfer fee is like buying someone out of his contract isn't it? I suppose if in the wider world that sort of thing isn't taxed then it couldn't be done just for football.
I did and I'm not your mate. You are obviously not very good at reading between the linesListen to the interview yourself then mate.

Aren't you the one who said we wouldn't be signing Maloney?![]()
Yes, most businesses would quote amounts net of VAT but newspapers would tend to want to highlight the highest possible amount. It was wrong, transfer fees are taxed at standard rate VAT. The football league also issues a 5% levy on every single transfer payment, whether its compensation, transfer fee, loan fee, addon, sell on fee etc.
I also read something that said the player and agent generally take around 10% of every transfer fee between them, provided the player didn't request the move in writing.
Add to that lot any sell on fees which are calculated on the original total value of the transfer.
Its a bit of a gray area though as transfer fees are generally all undisclosed and the details aren't published so we've no idea if the amounts we see are pre or post all these payments. I would imagine they are the total sums though before any liabilities.
Gayle 5'9"Gayle being about 5 and a half foot tall I don't expect we'll have any more success from the 30 crosses a game we swing in from the flanks. Wouldn't be my choice; in fact I'd rather keep what we have than spunk even £6m on him. Mind you, I won't believe it until I get the chance to say 'How far away is he?' when he steps out of the tunnel at the KC
I can't be arsed to trawl through hundreds of pages, but you did say we wouldn't be signing him, in addition to saying he is too old at 32 etc.I was the one saying I was hoping we wouldn't. I still think it's a hugely underwhelming signing in an area that we don't need. We don't even play with wingers FFS. Throwing the 1.5m at Southend for Bentley would have been much more useful.
I can read between the lines fine, Bruce was immediately dismissive of any chance of Gayle coming here, and Burnsy had to pry out of him that we'd even made an official enquiry.

That must be an older Bruce interview you remember. Gayle now seems to be Plan B if we don't get Gray.
Can't resist this. Not a good move to screw aunties.Yep, I was pretty surprised that they published what tantamounted to misinformation. Humberside corrected them pretty quickly, but not quick enough it seems.
Chicago rejected our offer and said he wasn't for sale while they were still in the cup, so I was happy that it didn't look like happening. Clearly circumstances have changed now that they've been knocked out.
If you want to compare the situations, it'd be like Palace reducing their valuation of Gayle. Then, the situation having changed, Bruce would view Gayle as affordable and go after him.
FWIW I've been keen on Gayle for a while now, he has very similar stats to Gray. It's just a question of what the club can afford, and I think Gray is more affordable as his wage demands would be lesser.

...just ask Peter GreenDoesn't that include transference psychosis? Did I get it wrong again? Oh well.
YOU despatched ANYONE with aplomb?!? I had you ranked in the top 90% of posters on this forum but, I'm sorry, I'm going to have to drop you into the bottom 10%, just above Karl. I seem to remember randomly selecting you as a test sample after my first joining the forum (I think you'd made some stupid comment about a flurry of new users with, in your opinion, silly user names: correct me if I'm wrong), but I quickly moved on as you came across as a bit of a wet Nellie. As I said earlier today, perception is subjective, but that was my perception. However, your obviously jokey comment about the Brotherhood of Putter-Downers is actually not far from the truth; just as when I first joined the forum, several innocent newbies in the last few days have been needlessly attacked after their first post. Why? You generally seem to be a fairly decent guy; why would you want to be associated with the far-from-decent attack dogs?

Gayle 5'9"
Gray 5'10"
This makes absolutely NO SENSE. It can't be true. Gray is desperate to join us. Gayle considers the Championship beneath him. Gayle is probably on 3x Grays wages... We already have Akpom who is far more suited to partner with Gray.
His goal scoring record after Peterborough is poor. 12 in 48 at CP. And we are interested in Gayle because he'd cost us 1 mill. less up front. ARE WE MAD!! Exchanging a possible 20 goal scorer for a player unlikely to score half that.
