Not sure if mentioned, but Brizzle are offering 6m up front for Gray, and it's been accepted. Have absolutely no idea why we aren't matching that after our pursuits.

I still think there is another twist in this one yet. I think there's a good chance he'll turn Bristol Coty down or another team will come in at the last minute (hopefully us)

Agreed...I said pretty much the same thing a few pages back on [HASHTAG]#9563[/HASHTAG]

"Gray still has to agree terms for the deal to go through. I can't believe that he is too excited about going to a club that Brentford comfortably beat 4-2 on Saturday, that are bottom of the division, have no outstanding MF players that can give him the service he needs, and where his strike partner will be the slow ageing journeyman Aaron Wilbraham.

I'm sure the prospect of playing for a team that is a promotion favourite, that has spent four seasons of the past 5 in the Prem, that has his friend Odubajo signed for three years and where his strike partner would be the exciting Akpom, could surely match or beat Brizzles terms, and could well give him the Prem experience he needs next year, could give him pause for reflection. All we need to do is match or top Brizzles bid (variously reported as 9 mill or 7 mill.plus add-ons). But we'd better move fast".

The fat lady hasn't sung yet. This one isn't over yet!! He's not in Bristol's team tomorrow so he clearly hasn't signed.

If all your repetitively offensive, universally antagonistic, poorly phrased, inferiority-complex denying posts were removed (go back and scan the ENTIRE thread for your own "contribution" to it), this and a few other threads would be 1/4 of the size and ten times as good.
Incidentally, how do you pay little Quilly and the other confused followers in your little clique? In asterisks?

Sad, pathetic, unfunny, boring & ****.

Still nothing interesting to say.

That's my point our midfield is a car crash, I'm not saying toms a bad player he just doesn't do anything for our team. I carnt remember who it was I had the conversation with on here a few days ago (glp) I think. He had Tom as a deep playing midfielder but what does he do in that role he passes left to right occasionally going forward but as you say holds on to it for that split second to long and either loses it or delays the pass to long. If you move him further forward he doesn't support the attack because he doesn't get forward quick enough.
For some reason he won't take a risk or a gamble it's all to safe a 10 yard pass left or right.
He seems to be going through some transition crisis and he's lost sight of what he actually is and it seems easier for him and Bruce to let him play in this non effective risk free non contribution role
In my opinion there's no chance of any pl team coming in for him until he sorts his own game out and decides what he is and what role he can play
Can't coaches say what is wrong with his game and how to improve it?

But at what rate are they amortised?

If you pay £9m for a player on a 3 year deal do you write off straight line over the 3 years, amortising £3m per year, or is a different method used possibly some variation of diminishing value? Would the same player with 1 year left on the contract be worth £3m?
For ffp do they have set rules for amortisation or can a company choose their own method
Straight line
Net value would be £3m
Those are the rules. You can't use a method that is not reasonable and they are the only reasonable rules.

I more than understand accounting treatment but never looked into it for football clubs. What would happen for ffp if you bought a player on 3 year contract then after 1.5 years you extend his contract for another 3.5 years
You amortise the transfer fee over the original 3 years of the contract. The transfer fee is written off after three years so there's no more amortisation.

I think I might have to put my tin-pisser on for this one, but Stéphane Sessègnon has been released by WBA (I haven't seen it mentioned previously), he is 31 years of age and would be a good player for us at this level. He is/was a big favourite of Steve Bruce and I have to admit to liking him too. He would be an excellent foil up front for Akpom, he could be a very effective playmaker in midfield and he can cover either wing (pace might be a tad limited these days). I think he would take the piss out of Championship defences. I followed him in his Sunderland stint and, when played correctly he was excellent - certainly not a lone striker! Can somebody else look at his stats, please?

Stéphane Sessègnon hasn't been released, he's still at West Brom.

Aye, I thought it strange, even though he's had problems with the club, but I think interest would be pushing at an open door - value is difficult, but likely within range. Was there something on Twitter, as it was mentioned somewhere yesterday?

I don't think there's any doubt he's available, but they'd want a few million for him and he's apparently on £40k a week.

Aye, release was the wrong term to use, I picked it up wrong. If Bruce can sort terms, which I think he could, then he would be very useful.
