While the deal on the table was getting both Gray and Odubajo for 6.5 million, that was decent business.
7 to 9 million for Gray alone is ridiculous. Had he banged in 30 Goals in his first championship season then you might be talking. But 16 goals didn't even get him in the top 10 championship strikers last season. In fact, he only got 5 more than ince who didn't join Derby until February.

We can't get anyone to pay anywhere near that for Hernandez and he is an international footballer.

Get some perspective people. We shouldn't be paying premier league fees when we are in the championship.

We get "excited" as you call it when we are linked with a striker who could quite possibly score the goals to get us promoted this season. When was the last time most city fans were genuinely excited about signing a good striker?

Getting angry about not paying money for a player is a little bit pathetic. That's just me. But don't worry you carry on mate

This was a particularly interesting post; especially the likes! There were other interesting posts and some (taken into context today) that are a tad amusing.

As you can see, this was towards the end of March and I think everyone had been able to analyse performances and comment on what they saw, rather than statistics in isolation.

I do like facts and this shows a bit of a U-turn by you to be a fact rather than a subjective opinion. I haven't got a problem with your opinions or that they sometimes differ from mine, but I do object to you trying to castigate me on the basis of bollocks - which this more than adequately shows.

Let's start again, let's not take stats in isolation and lets use them with the benefit of what we saw, as you did back in March.

You came at me with this:

I responded with this, but you were to forgetful and too lazy to do a simple check-back on what you liked.

The banter was fine, but then you got personal, so I have given you the facts you crave; no need to apologise, just move on and consider how things have progressed in future - or, and don't be so ****ing condescending. [img class="mceSmilie" alt="

Wow, you wasted the day cobbling that ****e together? ****ing hell, I wouldn't have bothered. That's the views of a few people on a forum. The Squawka stats are based on actual player performance based on a season, not one game.

You're beaten - hands down. You aren't even a close second. Move on and start posting something sensible. There's a good chap.

We shouldnt pay that much. Sorry. Nope
It's a lot of money Chazz, but that's the way the game is today. Do we compete or do we give up?

Gray looks the real deal and I think Chubby and Grey will get us the goals to piss this league. Well if we can keep the likes of Dawson and Thud anyway.

FFP isn't an issue because we've received more than we've spent this season and we're still over £15 million in the green regarding net transfers. We could buy Gray for Brentford's asking price, buy Bentley from Southend, sell Jelavic and Hernandez and buy another midfielder and still be in compliance with FFP. Of course, there's the probability we'll lose Huddlestone, Elmo and Dawson come deadline day but that's because of buy-out clauses.

People on this forum were taking the piss out of other posters because there was an element of worry and anxiety over our inactivity in the transfer market. People won't be taking the piss when we lose some of our best players on deadline day and we resort to panic-buying because we couldn't get our transfers sorted earlier. The Gray deal should have been wrapped up around the same time as the Odubajo one and we should have signed a new keeper before the season started.

There's something going on behind the scenes, with SB frustration apparent by his comments in the press, would not be surprise if SB throws the towel in sooner than later.
I can also see this coming, it'll please Bob anyway. Unless we have a successful transfer window, and we won't know that for a couple if weeks, I can see Bruce offering his resignation, mand if it's not accepted just walking away.

All of this stuff with the Andre Gray saga just stinks of petulance from the Allam's to me. They now know, for certain, that there's no way they'll get to change the name of the club, and since then have stayed away from the KC and reined in the finances. Surely the two are linked, or is it just me?

It,'s just you.

That may be true but this site doesn't have any inside knowledge. Bruce just said on Sky there was no bid for Thudd from anyone. Oh surprise surprise 45 mins ago they post this "inside" knowledge after such smart deduction

So FFP is nothing to do with the wages we are paying? I wasn't sure on that as I didn't see it explained anywhere here.

There's no wage restriction in the Championship.

So it's just down to how big the owner's pockets are then. Ehab saying we spent our way out of the division last time but couldn't do it again was obviously lying.

Where's obi and Peter saxton when you need them?
I.e. A dull risk evaluation of how the Allams structure their loans, the impact on their balance sheet reporting and how much in the **** we will be in if the Allams pull out of their commitments.
