Gray still has to agree terms for the deal to go through. I can't believe that he is too excited about going to a club that Brentford comfortably beat 4-2 on Saturday, that are bottom of the division, have no outstanding MF players that can give him the service he needs, and where his strike partner will be the slow ageing journeyman Aaron Wilbraham.

I'm sure the prospect of playing for a team that is a promotion favourite, that has spent four seasons of the past 5 in the Prem, that has his friend Odubajo signed for three years and where his strike partner would be the exciting Akpom, could surely match or beat Brizzles terms, and could well give him the Prem experience he needs next year, could give him pause for reflection. All we need to do is match or top Brizzles bid (variously reported as 9 mill or 7 mill.plus add-ons). But we'd better move fast.

Its absolutely bizarre when you think about losing out to ****ing Bristol City. Im not getting ahead of myself or anything, but we've just come down from the prem, have one of, if not the best and definitely most experienced manager in the league, we've got the money having sold 4 players for decent money... so how can we not compete with Bristol City?

The owner at Bristol is seriously wealthy. Even so, the squad they have is some distance behind ours.

I have it on extremely good authority that the deal for the Brentford striker is dead in the water.

Huddlestone's days at the club are numbered and City are actively looking for a new keeper but not the lad from Southend.

There's something going on behind the scenes, with SB frustration apparent by his comments in the press, would not be surprise if SB throws the towel in sooner than later.

Gray will score 15 ish goals and do as expected but I'm not super fussed about missing out

As long as we get someone similar.

or someone full stop.

Facts hurt don't they, particularly in your case.

Try reading back through this and refresh your memory - it may interest others too.

This was a particularly interesting post; especially the likes! There were other interesting posts and some (taken into context today) that are a tad amusing.

thought the midfield were excellent today, Ramirez's best game so far and showed what some of us knew he could do. Livermore stepped out of huddlestones shadow and showed he can still play. The whole midfield got about the pitch without thudd slowing the game/team down.
Tom would be getting splinters on the bench for me.

look_back_in_amber, Hull City AFC (GLP), PattyNchips2 and 5 others like this.

As you can see, this was towards the end of March and I think everyone had been able to analyse performances and comment on what they saw, rather than statistics in isolation.

I do like facts and this shows a bit of a U-turn by you to be a fact rather than a subjective opinion. I haven't got a problem with your opinions or that they sometimes differ from mine, but I do object to you trying to castigate me on the basis of bollocks - which this more than adequately shows.

Let's start again, let's not take stats in isolation and lets use them with the benefit of what we saw, as you did back in March.

You came at me with this:

He has my sympathy with respects to what has come out in the press, but seriously, he was utterly ****e last season.

I'm surprised at you Fez. Sometimes you post some knowledgeable stuff like you know a bit about football, then you undo it all by posting some outlandish bollocks.[/QUOTE]

I responded with this, but you were to forgetful and too lazy to do a simple check-back on what you liked.

I would hardly call the phrase, "Sorry, but that's just bollocks" the start of a rant and the fact I related everything that followed to things you can easily check on this forum (which I used as my reference) would tend to support that. Are you telling me that the headhunters of this forum (and elsewhere), were not focussing on the poor performance of Huddlestone, rather than Livermore. Who was the CMF better than Livermore? I accept I'm asking you to select from a piss poor pot, but that's the pot being discussed.

The banter was fine, but then you got personal, so I have given you the facts you crave; no need to apologise, just move on and consider how things have progressed in future - or, and don't be so ****ing condescending. <ok>

Some of the comments on here a laughable re Gray. I'm glad we haven't succumbed to an over evaluation of someone who had one decent season in the Championship. People just get so excited on here about anyone that may have an ok season. Who honestly gives a toss. It's Allams money, if you wanted to buy something and you didn't value it at that price you wouldn't buy it either, however it's easy to scream 'just another 500k' with one hand on the keyboard and another with your hand down your pants waiting for the next 'young, strong lad' to come through the door.

The question is who? Who else in the division scored that many goals last season or the season before? Rhodes, Mccormack? Austin? they are all valued well over £10m. For me, in this day and age, the money Brentford want for Gray is normal.. He's young, English, proven and will only get better.

We missed out once before on this type of player... Austin, albeit for different reasons but the player ended up going to a another club and doing really well for them.

We get "excited" as you call it when we are linked with a striker who could quite possibly score the goals to get us promoted this season. When was the last time most city fans were genuinely excited about signing a good striker?
