Really wish we'd gone for him.

Are we doing a joint bid to screw over sell on fees on their behalf? Why else is it taking so long?
It's the only reason I can think of. Would mean we can get them for slightly less than we'd otherwise pay as Brentford wouldn't have to pass-on as much of the profit.
It's a theory but it wouldn't explain it all. At least part of it just has to be a that we are still not agreeing on the total amount of the joint bid. They seem to want a couple mill more than we want to give. Are we doing a joint bid to screw over sell on fees on their behalf? Why else is it taking so long?

one would thinkIf we're at 9 and they're holding out for 10.5, surely we can up our bid slightly, chuck in a loan (I think Lenihan was mooted) and basically get to an understanding.
Would just be an utter waste to go this far and then baulk.

But that's the way things happen on here
The fee for Odubajo is £3.5m, it's his release clause, we've confirmed it and Brentford have confirmed it, it's common knowledge, so unless someone bids more, nothing can be fiddled.
On that basis, it's completely pointless trying to tie the two deals together.
We were looking for a BOGOF deal? So, going by the above, we bid £3.5m for Odubajo and activated his release clause, completed a medical and he decided he wanted to come here. We then decide we want Gray as well, put in a joint bid in which we back-track from Odubajo's £3.5m release clause, valuing him at less for some reason. Brentford then reject that bid and we are back at square one?
It seems fairly public that Brentford want £10.5m for both, so that automatically values Gray at £7m (assuming they won't let Odubajo go for less than his £3.5m release clause). Unless there a load of prohibitive add-ons, or they want too much of whole sum up-front, I can't imagine that this is too much of a surprise to anybody (ie they aren't exactly pricing Gray out of the market).
What I cannot really understand is in all this why we don't just get Odubajo in (given we obviously agreed a deal) and then start negotiating on the structure of the Gray deal separately- anyway, I guess this will all be sorted one way or the other by Friday.
I'm assuming no-ones seen the paper this morning.

It's all about the 21 day clause
They waived it two days ago. Poor journalism.
