Reading seem to be going for it, they've already signed a decent looking striker from Legia Warsaw(Orlando Sá), Quinn and now McShane, they're also supposed to be bidding for ex-Tigers Myhill and Donaldson.
There'll be a lovely **** up from Mcshane in front of the North Stand. Guaranteed.
There'll be no one in the North to see it like but still...

I think most of our best will not want to sign a new contract but be willing to try and get us up next season. Then they can either get a Premier league club very easily on a free if we don't go up, or sign a new deal at Premier league wages if we do.

Correct. Steve Harper gave a very candid interview to talksport last week and said the same thing. He says that the core of the squad will want to stay and get the club back up. He said the quality is still there but we just need some goal scorers.

Another promotion on the CV and a championship winners medal has to be the goal for the new season.
The rest follows on if they do so.

Quinn has gone - why can't we move on.

I'm waiting for the McShane posts to ramp up later when he also signs for Reading.

Indeed. We have Maguire to replace Macca. HM is a better quality player actually but we shall miss Macca and his all action style to a point.

Time to move on. Quinn and Macca like Rosie have gone but they can help there new clubs take points of our promotion rivals.

Because he's too good to play in the Championship.

He's on massive wages.

He won't be up for playing in the Championship.

Take your pick.

You missed off the one which says """he wont be fit until after the window shuts""" so we shall have him until jan at least. Don't see anyone making a move for him until he can get fit and stay fit.

Who makes up the 'core' of our squad then?

Once the strikers go we will have a good defence and some talented wingers, hardly a strong 'core'.

Putting the released players and striker issue to oneside, we have only lost Quinn so far. Way too soon to be on the panic button. What we have left is a great core of players. We just need to replace Quinn and the strikers at some point soon.

I'll ask again, who constitutes this 'great core' of players? I'd love to know.

Nobody's panicking, but Quinn was in fact the eighth player from the senior squad to leave so far this window.

You think ? Many are on the panic button. I shall look at the squad depth after 6pm on 1st September when the window closes.

Then, unlike the PL we can take advantage of the loan market as when we need to do so.

You mean like how you said many were on the panic button when they said they thought we might get relegated?

Oh how foolish they were and how right you were proved. Oh no, wait...
