Dan Gosling, Andrew Surman, Junior Stanislas, Ian Harte, Artur Boruc and Kenwyne Jones all had plenty of Premier League experience between them. Regardless of whether they'd played at the top level or not, their ability as footballers was better than that of the average Championship player, hence their promotion. They didn't get promoted by simply running around a lot and hassling the opposition, they got promoted by outplaying the other teams.

Gosling only played 17 games
Jones only played 6 games
Stanislas only played 13 games
Harte only played 4 games

They have, as you can clearly see had a major contribution to Bournemouth getting promoted. Collectively managing 40 games between them.

It is absolute nonsense to say Quinn just 'Runs about a bit'. As it is to suggest the players above had a huge impact on getting Bournemouth promoted.

He's not a RB, but he will be played there. What is a RWB? When played by Bruce, he spends very little time defending and when defence becomes the imperative we change to 4-4-2 with no wing-backs and, yes, you've guessed it, full-backs.
RWB = Right Wing Back. When Bruce plays a 3-5-2 formation the traditional RB responsibility does become the responsibility of the 3rd central defender on the right. Elmo does operate defensively - he's not the best at it. But he can certainly play that position. That's why we adopt 3-5-2 to accommodate Elmo and to have the 3rd centre half as security.

I suspect you missed me taking the piss.

If Huddlestone is head and shoulders above Quinn why did Quinn create more chances, score more goals and have more assists to his name?

If the options are Quinn and Meyler or Ramirez and Ben Arfa, then you're right, I'd take the former pair every day of the week.

If that means I have a 'Hull' attitude to you then so be it. For the record, Quinn isn't a workhorse at all, he's a tidy central midfielder who links play well, exceptionally well in the Championship. The fact that he works hard and gives a **** is merely a bonus.

Quinn has left the building. Get over it.

Because it's relevant. He wasn't playing for us because he loves the East Riding, he was playing for us because at the time we gave him the best wages and the best chance of playing football. Just like his next club will. All this hand wringing over two players is slightly grating.

If we don't get better than him or Rosie, we will be struggling this season.

I don't get why you and some others keep harping back to our last promotion, neither of those players is the same player now, nor are they what we need if we want a serious and proper promotion push with a team capable of staying up and doing better.

Ill say it again, if we can't get better than those two are currently, we will struggle.

Don't worry, we managed to hang on to Alex Bruce. <doh>

I've just seen some rather depressing numbers on Twitter...

We currently have 23 senior players, four of them are injured, at least three of them are expected to leave, one of them is suspended indefinitely and three of them have never made a league appearance for us.

We've a fair bit of work to do.

Bologna are allegedly in for Hernandez.

Sky have apparently said we've made an approach for Whittingham from Cardiff(I didn't see it myself, so it could be bollocks).

Whittingham would be a great signing, if of course there's anything in it. I'll check with my contacts at the snooker club. TWT as always.

Can we just stop banging this drum about Quinns assists?

Two of them were corners and the other was his usual simple 5 yard pass in midfield from which Diame took it and absolutely belted it into the net away at Newcastle, Quinn can hardly take credit for that and corners aren't exactly evidence of 'craft and guile'.

All three also came very early in the season.

He's not as good as Quinn. **** signing if true.

He passes too far, shoots from too far out, he even plays balls through a defence. We don't want that sort of risk in midfield.

Injuries shouldn't be in that stat, we don't need to replace injured players, unless they're Anthony Gardner sort of injured.

I believe that significant City transfer happenings when they occur, (not rumour and chat), deserve dedicated threads and should not be mixed in with all this miscellany, is this in order or not.

I believe that significant City transfer happenings when they occur, (not rumour and chat), deserve dedicated threads and should not be mixed in with all this miscellany, is this in order or not.

Generally, when we actually do sign someone, a new thread gets started(in fact, normally, about ten threads get started), the thread is then merged into the transfer thread later, once it's common knowledge.
