    Amusing Pretentiousness.

Over the 2 years you've been here, I've really enjoyed seeing you lurk in the shadows, picking out certain posts to respond to at random times and trying to make yourself look like the intellectual. (Can't wait to here a response such as "I just don't like drawing attention to myself... unlike a certain someone" or "I just prefer not to post that often).

    ---------------------------

However, I do regret my original comment to an extent. What I would have said if I could take it back is I would enjoy seeing the Muslims who allow their faith/culture to cause such controversy and influence things so much around the club to go.

And when I say I regret my original comment to an extent, I mean to an extent.

I said "all our muslim players" because it honestly slipped my mind that Haidara and Sissoko were Muslims. It wasn't due to any sort of hatred of Muslims.

I was only thinking of Tiote and Cisse, and I never considered Ben Arfa because, despite the fact that he comes from an Arabic/Muslim background, I never thought of him as a person who cared that much about his origins or religion.

Pick the bones out of my statements if you will, but I really don't think Ben Arfa is much of a Muslim. I don't think that just because someone is born to a Muslim family that they should be identified as Muslims.

Some of the other players, such as Cisse and Tiote, have shown that they do care about their culture/belief. But Ben Arfa, not really.

I know what the phrase means bro, I was trying to get him to explain why he was directing the statement towards me.

Someone take his shovel away, please.

Firstly, I post when I want to, nothing more sinister.

Secondly, the underlined parts above just reinforce my first comment. Others also seem to agree with my sentiment as per Agent's comment in entry 24.

Thirdly, you criticise those who have faith and belief and try to live to those standards. Why?

Fourthly, your input into this article contradicts the comment made by you in entry 37.

Does that deal with your queries???

I am a little on the fence on this subject.

If Cisse has in fact stated that he wont wear the top because of religious beliefs then although I respect his decision to a degree it strikes me as being incredibly selective.

While he is running around every football pitch there are adverts all over the shop about the same sorts of adverts. He don't complain then.

He is getting paid a ridiculous amount of money, sponsorship etc to kick a ball around a pitch.

Religion should never get in the way of someones job. The fact that he has to wear a shirt to play football should not matter. He has the choice to NOT agree to its contents.... Simples!

Are you telling me that there are muslims turning down jobs that do not fit in with their religion.

Crikey some of the muslims in question have shops that DONT PAY TAXES!

El Habsi is a muslim and he wore the wigan football top all season without any questions. He maintains his religion just fine.

I dont buy any of this **** about Cisse not wanting to wear the football tops. Tell that to the many peoples lives he keeps going when he gives his hard earned millions each year for playing football. The main source of his salary is from things he "dont believe in"

Wow I sound really bad in this post but what I am trying to say is, Its a ****ing T-Shirt - get over it!

If there is something in this, I hazard a guess that some crazy agent advice is involved all geared towards him moving and them scoring. As it stands, probably all a load of bull and he'll tearing around training in Wonga tops next week.

You are entitled to come and go as you please, but I find it quite pathetic that when you do pop up when you do, you make adhominem attacks on people and rarely provide comments with any substance. You didn't provide your own point or argument, you just called me racist and acted like a pretentious ****er and said "think before you speak".

My comment was an uncharacterstic error, and we all make them. I made a further post explaining myself in more detail that you might have overlooked.

This is basically just reliving past times all over again. I make one mistake and then people make statements like "Tash thinks without speaking" as if I do it all the time or even often. I don't.

As I said before, it was an uncharacteristic error. We all make them.

I don't. People are free to live their own lives, have their own religions and live by their cultures standards. However, Tiote and Cisse make millions of pounds a year and have gotten an opportunity that most people would bleed for.

In my opinion, it's not fair to allow your beliefs to cause this sort of controversy around the football club that pays you so much money, just because you have strong religious beliefs.

They're compensated for their work, and I'm sure they should be able to look past something as trivial as an advertisement on a t-shirt.

If not, then they shouldn't be accepting their wages and they shouldn't be playing for this football club.

What I meant by this statement is that despite the fact that my original comment was wrong, it shouldn't lead to people making immature comments towards other people and attacking them personally.

If you disagree with someone's statements, you can reply respectfully. You can criticise me and tear the **** out of my arguments if you wish.

But if you respond immaturely with sarcasm like Discotecha did, and "please plug in your brain before speaking", it takes the respectful nature out of the conversation.

My comments were inappropriate but that does not warrant childish responses, and you, AB and Discotecha make yourself look like pseudo-intellectuals who try to appear intelligent but only attack a person directly using adhominem attacks, instead of addressing a persons points, like a true adult and intellectual would.

I've seen plenty of comments from people I've strongly disagreed with but, unless it's just a troll or an idiot shouting out abuse, I will attack a persons argument and criticise them in an adult way, rather than just posting cheap **** like "use your brain before you speak" to try and make myself look more intelligent than the person I'm responding to.

I apologise for this, but I feel it's necessary in this case to defend my position.

    I'll drop it now.

We are so brainwashed to believe that anyone from a Muslim background will participate in Ramadam and agree with Sharia Law.
Some will and some don't (just look at the s*** that's going on in Egypt etc).

Cisse may well have his beliefs, that's his personal choice, but, it doesn't mean to say the others like Tiote and Ben Arfa have the same.

Its like saying all Christians shouldn't eat meat on a Good Friday, which just doesn't happen.

FFS let Cisse be - it will sort itself out.

That said, if he wont wear Wonga on the shirt, IMHO, the club should make very effort to look at other options including the printing of the 'Offside Rules' in the space as an alternative.

On the subject of Cisse, and moving onto getting him to actually function. What about Tarrabt on loan? Complete wild card and horribly inconsistent but exactly what Cisse needs as a number 10. Obviously we don't do loans so extremely unlikely, and he carries huge risk but he is very talented.

IMO - Cisse should take a cut in pay.

Advertisements are how the club makes a significant amount of it's money. Having the players wear the shirts with advertisements on them is part of this.

So If he refuses to wear a shirt with Wonga on it and damage, even if just slightly, the profits of the club, he shouldn't be paid as much. He's paid to put his body on the line for entertainment and to help make the club he's playing for money.

Truth to tell, I won't be wearing a Wonga top.

Of course I've got to buy my own, not get paid for wearing one.

    Agree with you 100%
But in reality, it simply wouldn't happen.

Bottom line, the press have no idea of what is going on at the club.
We have as much idea as them.
How accurate are they - crap at best.

    Tongue in cheek.
    In the last month alone.
    We've nearly bought 20+ players
    Ashley's nearly sold the club.
    Pardew nearly quit.
    etc etc.

As old song goes 'Don't Believe What You Read'.
    It was wrote for US.

I was messing around with you man.

You need to be a little bit more laid back and respectful when conversing on this forum.

HBA and Tiote may like to keep how they keep their faith to themselves, it's a free country.
Cisse has been vocal about his beliefs, again a free country.
