Thought the transfer window was open and it was only the Free Transfers that had to wait until contracts ran out 30th June.

The English Transfer Window starts on 1st July.
Other countries may already have started (Holland).
Doesn't stop deals being agreed, but they cant be registered until then.

What is the actual delay ???
I understand he was away with England but still, this proofs to me the club have not changed.
Not just with austin but signings in general
We are three weeks into the summer and no movement

The fact Ashley is still owner is proof enough that things haven't changed. Leopards and spots. We'll spend the amount it has been deemed required to finish mid-table. No more.

It seems like Swansea and West Ham know where the line is.
They are recruiting well so he will go to them.
That fat **** Charnley will then come out with some horse **** about not being able to get Austin over the line just before Shola rides up Barrack road in shiny armour on a white steed with a Colgate smile as wide as the Tyne to announce he's been offered a three year deal.

Feels like this one is starting to slip away, if it was ever really on.
Original valuations of the player put him in the 10 million bracket, meaning Newcastle would have offered 8 million on a good day. Now reports claim that QPR want 15 million and that means they would most probably settle for 12.
I still think this represents good value nevertheless , but will Mr Ashley see it that way.
It could and it's a big could, be true that he has given his team of Charnley, Carr , Moncur and McLaren a war chest to spend as they see fit without his interference or sanction.
That's a nice thought and it really does remain to be seen what happens next.
My best guess is precisely nothing, but as l said it remains to be seen.

It seems like clubs like Swansea have no problem gazumping us these days.
Apparently they have moved for Mitrovic now as well as having already signed Ayew and Gomis.

Please hurry up and buy him so he can stop being linked with us for silly money... scared that Rodgers might actually fall for it :(
