Yep, but the managing director of the RNLI takes half a million a year. I stopped donating to the RNLI when I learnt that. It is unacceptable that a charity pays managers that much whilst relying on volunteers

Sorry to hear you've stopped donating. Our Chief Executive (who started in May last year) is paid a £160,000 a year. He's responsible for 10,000's of volunteers, lifeguards, fundraisers and others dedicated to saving lives at sea in an often risky envir

Still way too much for a charity. I want to know that my donations are spent into equipment, maintenance and running costs, rather than in the pockets of some fat cat. RNLI could find lots of well qualified people who could do the same job as volunteers or at cost.
