'Literally' would be saying what you've just done when you misquoted me. This is what I actually said. "I've no idea why some people seem so desperate for us to drop down the table tbh." 'Seems' means that's how it can appear to me, my opinion based on some of the posts. I believe some people have a grudge against the club ... ... they don't always spell it out but that's how it comes across.
Yes that's right, I'm definitely the one here to cause trouble... Oh Saffy Saf the big pot stirrer you are!
Ok so this seems to be taking a turn. To get back on track for a moment, I think Sunderland are likely to drop down the table a bit as there's seemingly disharmony and in fairness they may as well continue blooding the youngsters whilst there's less to play for anyway. I don't think there's any chance whatsoever of even a relegation fight though. Hopefully things pick up but either way it's going to send the right message to the board - I think finishing 7th and having people think things are ok going into next season could be worst case scenario anyway. Having the right manager is the biggest challenge for the 24/25 season, then a few acquisitions and another tilt at top 6 is certainly possible. Especially given the clubs coming down from the Premiership simply don't look as good as the ones going up.
That's a good point, none of the clubs who could drop are close to Leicester imo. Sheff Utd are a mess of a club and Burnley don't have 'the genius of Kompany' to rely on this time. I think Luton would be totally demoralised if they come down and may not go back up for quite some time.
It feels at the minute like you can't post anything without being accused of being negative, having an agenda or not towing the 606 party line that the club is in good hands and it's repeated to much. That doesn't stimulate healthy debate, but it's how I feel at present
I think you’re doing the slow WUM. Acting sensible and then all of a sudden we’ll all be arguing with each other and it’ll be all your fault!
But you've really no idea why he isn't currently posting or what's going on in his life. He's always been quite happy, and capable, of giving as good as he's got ... ... more often than not gets his retaliation in first
imo, you’re such a dick Me and my brother are buying season tickets for Durham T20 this season. If you’re up that way anytime, let me know if you fancy a game. He’ll hand his card over for a game.
I think it's been ten years or so now, I wish I had the patience for the pay off you credit me with. My wife would confirm that I do not.
I disagree about blooding the youngsters. I’d take Riggy out of the starting team and bench him until next season. I believe it can harm their development playing in a side like ours, at the moment.
God I'd love that! No idea if/when I'll be up but I'll let you know well in advance if I am. Last game I went to see Durham play in was 2012 (Lancashire-Durham in the County Championship they played at Aigburth which is where I lived at the time), I came home for lunch and my wife went into Labor. Selfish woman didn't let me go back for the afternoon session.
No, I don’t. I could be way off. It’s just my opinion, not trying to pass it off as a matter of fact.
Wow, you feeling pretty pessimistic about it all? I still can't really see you not going up, I hope you do anyway as if I had to pick it'd be Leicester, Leeds and Southampton going up now.
I don’t think they play at Aigburth anymore. Never been but I’m reliably informed it was a decent little venue. My cousin around here used to coach the youth team there. Just let me know. The only game we are definitely going together is the Yorkshire game in June.
It's a fair point. Jobe is a funny one when I see him, really blows hot and cold. Has looked out of form and I was just thinking on Saturday he should have been rested and then he scored that goal. I had a similar concern for us with Miley this season and think it really depends on the conversations the manager is having with them and whether the other players are shielding them from the negatives. The balance at Sunderland seems a bit off to me, you need a couple more 25-30 yr old Championship stalwarts, ideally who have been promoted before to try and get the best out of some of the youngsters. I don't think that fits your model though. I don't rate Lascelles as a player at all but at least having him as a captain means that if a youngster messes up for us the rest of the squad can say "yeah but you're much better than Lascelles and he's our f*cking captain". Must really help.
I see it a little differently. There are some people, like yourself, who can express dissatisfaction with what's happening at the club in a measured way. It's possible to have a sensible discussion with people like that. There are others who get hysterical about it, don't come across as measured, (seemingly) assume that the people running the club are not to be trustworthy, and appear to interpret everything that happens as negative. If you suggest in anyway that things aren't as bad as they make out, they tell you that you don't know what you're talking about, that you must be stupid etc. It's not a good state for the forum to be in either way.
