Feel like that's a decision you've made rather than a reflection of team selection. The club clearly fancy Jobe as a forward and O'Nien as a centre back. With valid reason. I'm not really sure about Styles. Building a well rounded squad takes time. This window will be important.
Why would we try and sign an experienced leader unless we wanted to play them? Maybe they’ll work that out quicker than you have.
The negativity is just nonsensical at this point. Just anything and everything to beat the club with is being used regardless of how inane it is. I'm not happy with the club by any means but the hysteria of sections our fanbase this season has been incredibly disappointing.
there is not one thing at the club at the moment to be positive about even a blind man can see how bad things are with no sign of any improvment it will get alot worse next season if they dont change anything the model needs to at least be tinkered to allow some experience players in if the model stays exactly the same we in deep trouble next season got no faith in them changing things around but summer will tell everything hopefully they step up and change things
Like I said. I'm not happy with the club. They've cocked this season up royally. Big summer needed. Plenty to be positive about though. We aren't in league one - pretty pleased about that. We've got some great young players in our squad who will grow in stature and in value. We have an owner who is pouring investment into our squad and the club's infrastructure. We have got a lot of stuff wrong this season. But we are getting plenty right. Calm is required.
this summer will tell everything we all want them to step up and change things if expected Clarke and others leave need to use all the money to get some championship quality players
I think the manager and getting injuries under control is the key. We have a good squad. A few shrewd additions and we are on the rise once again.
If you're an experienced championship player you don't want to be scratting around looking for a club at 30, which is when we currently show our players the door regardless of performance or the amount of playing time you get.
There's a big danger of relegation next season imo. There's a perfect storm of poor recruitment lately typified by Sykes who adds nothing other than being a squad filler and the inability and to sign a proper centre forward. Add to that the terrible managerial appointments post Mowbray and the likelihood we lose our top goalscorer and best player this summer. So unless there's a sea change in approach and personnel we are only heading one way. I'd be replacing Speakman and ripping up the model that seemingly has Dodds and Proctor as unsackable absolutes in the 1st team management set up if I was owner. The decisions to push Baath and Pritchard out the door have been shown to be laughably bad ones as well.
I'm not against the model but it's becoming clear that those implementing it have become far too rigid in their approach. It's like you can distract them from absolutely anything by jangling an early twenties French attacking player in front of them. We need someone who can evolve, not sit back on previous good work.
Nobody was pushed out the door. Gooch, Batth and Pritch were told there would be no new contract for them. They chose to leave Batth isn't exactly pulling up trees at Norwich - 4 starts out of 36 games Gooch is always injured Pritch went on strike Whilst I would have kept Pritch, the other two are not up to the standard anymore. This "lack of experience" narrative only goes so far - it may explain some of our weaknesses, but having experienced players isn't some sort of silver bullet that guarantees promotion.
I thought that too. Particularly about lack of confidence in them getting it right in the summer. If we don't get the right head coach in the summer and have the kind of window we've had the last two we're going to struggle big time. Imo. Thought it was interesting that they both said they'd heard, through the grapevine, that the coaches didn't think some of the players brought in were good enough. Pretty damning that.
Exactly. the reason our season has derailed is down to two things.....injuries and the head coach fiasco. These young players don't know where they are week by week and it's told in the performances.....sometimes good, often bad. Get the injuries fixed, get stability with the right coach who's got the time and support he needs, and we'll have a good season next. This is a good, young squad....with everyone fit,it needs some improvement, but not that much.
I agree with almost all of this, I just despair at some of the knee jerk reactions. I am not happy with this season as there have been quite a few unseen problems and some very visible problems. I dont lay blame directly at the feet of KS or KLD but do believe that there is room for improvement. I have tried to look at the problems with a bit of perspective however and some of the things that our supporters complain about are the exact things they were asking for just over 2 and a half years ago (No pleasing some people) a plan and a structure to move forward. This will not happen as quick as some would like but if you look at the progression of the club so far then you can see that out our youth and under23 set up looks strong the problems we have encountered have basically come from the fact our under23 squad and first team have been pretty much one and the same. Most of our young player have been playing at levels beyond their years and as such I hope they will show more mature improvements in years to come. Some of this can already be seen in the first team with players such as DB, DN, Jobe, TH, AA, DC and more playing regularly when available at first team levels although most still under the age of 23. Whilst this does not mean I am happy at this season it does point to a brighter future and not the total catastrophe that some ae saying will happen (Relegation next season has been mentioned) but no success is guaranteed and there will be a lot of hard work still to be done, I dont know if last seasons signings will be a success or will be failures only time will tell us that but I can see that some of the signing already made have proven to be a success like JC,DB, and even PE. These are all young players who have made an impact since signing and I hope there are more to follow but like I said only time will tell and as with all young players you can not judge on a match by match basis we can only give them time to grow and adapt. Not everything will work as our last head coach appointment has shown and our club still has lessons to learn and a way to go but I am nowhere near the point of pulling the pin on the hand grenade yet and suggest that some fans look at the bigger picture of where we are and where we may end up.
Baath barely gets a game for Norwich and Pritchard ain't liked down Brum. Get a decent coach in and this squad is the foundation we build upon. We will know how ambitious we are when the likes of Clarke, Neil and Ballard leave and what's reinvested in the squad.
