I was just about to post a thread about this, by god it feels good.

Hmm, perhaps a name change for me could be coming, as celebration..

just had a quick read of RTG and a bit of a chat going on regarding the championship and the relegated teams having parachute payments to 'splash around'...one thing not mentioned is the money for final placings, iirc we got around 100M for last place and it usually increases a little each season.

what do you all think/know, would this money usually just be 'pre-spent' on wages and running costs or would it be classed as a nice little end of season bonus?

i think if a club has handled it's finances well then that end of season place money could be a massive boost for a championship team or at least allow them to keep some of their higher earners, i also seem to recall ours was basically owed out on wages and costs so we got no extra benefit out of it.

I think the majority of it will go on getting shot of the players that don't want to be there. The likes of Sissoko at Watford will be on a fortune. Burnley have a few saleable assets but getting relegated puts them in a weak negotiating position. I'd like to think we have our targets identified already and I don't think we will spend massive amounts of cash.
I don't think Huddersfield payed a transfer fee this season and they got into the playoff final.

As we know, parachute money isn't always a free revenue stream to fund a promotion campaign.
Norwich will be strong. Jury is out on Watford given their ropey managerial history and the left-field appointment. Burnley are financially ****ed - unless something changes they could be the next version of us in 2018

Was just about to mention Burnley, they may have to pay £65m to MSD as a relegation clause… so to get round it they are trying to borrow more money :emoticon-0108-speec

If the likes of Luton and Huddersfield were in with a chance there's no reason we can't be ...

... and with the financially bankrupt clubs like Birmingham, Burnley, Reading, etc, there's not much to fear.

Hoy in Rotherham and Wigan, no reason we should finish outside the top ten.

At the start of 2013/14 , Luton were in the conference. Only 9 years they almost were Premiership. I reckon we should at least not struggle next yearc

I honestly dont think the championship should hold any fear for us. I have already had a few quid on at 6/1 for promotion. I honestly think we can run through this league because in a very strange way this is probably the best season recently to get promoted in so much as it looks the weakest championship for a while.

I can see a few clubs hitting the financial buffers next season. Already rumours of points deductions in the offing for some clubs. The three coming down dont look like they will hold onto their main men, like Fulham did with Mitrovic. There werent really any hard luck stories in the championship this season when you look at teams outside of the playoffs. There will be loads of clubs trying to offload players, whereas we will be going in the other direction. I was talking to a Sheff Utd fan yesterday who said they have a tough challenge ahead because of the wages they offered in the prem.

To me we are going in on the up. We have momentum, a core of championship ready players, a manager who is tailor made for it and has the promotion t shirt. If we do some sensible business in 3 or 4 positions, and play the loan market well again, then the only thing that can stop us is ourselves IMO. Personally I cant wait.
