You make out like the Allams provided Hull with a facility. What they actually did was took one which the council paid for, built and own through sheer force to use it for their own purposes. Even if that turns out to be somehow technically legal when it reaches the courts, it's an utterly disgraceful way to behave. They've stolen the facility from me and every other HCC taxpayer for their own private commercial use. The fact that they failed to reach an agreement with Bishop Burton or to build their own facility is not the council or taxpayers' business. It's The really sad thing of course is that absolutely no one would defend it if it wasn't Allam. There's just no defence for it whatsoever, but yeah its good old Assem so we have these ridiculous attempts to justify and rationalise it. Oh and of course blame it all on HCC, cos Allam says so.
Took advantage how exactly? By paying the rate that was asked for at the start? It's not as if they set the price or it has suddenly reduced. If that is the argument, surely the solution would be to renegotiate the price, not evict them. Expecting everything to be self funding, especially associated with the KC is a slippery slope.
The council offered to fast track a bubble pitch behind the Arena. I'd say that was welcoming Academy 2 status and trying to help City get it. The Airco was cheap because that was what the Council wanted when they paid for it to be built. Hull City and Hull FC got the KC, the people of Hull got the Airco. It was part of the deal whereby the SMC paid next to nothing in rent. The SMC is in breach of the lease agreement. The Airco ran at a loss because that was how the lease was written. The profits from the KC subsidised the Airco. Whether the Council want the Airco back will be seen if they win any court case. If it goes that far and the Council win they can revoke the SMC's lease and negotiate directly with the Allams over how much rent they pay for the KC's upkeep. It doesn't have to make a loss, especially if the Allams have no other alternative for City's games, they'll have to pay what is asked. Two rich men evicted hundreds of local people to get their mits on half a million from the Premier League. The costs of a bubble pitch was significantly less than the £7 million Assem Allam gave to Hull University and not much more than the costs of laying turf in the Airco and putting an artificial floor in for the squash. People who are prepared is trample on people who aren't as powerful as him so he can get back at the Council are cads in my view. I may well have a step-grandson who will benefit from the Academy, early days yet, but it doesn't stop me recognising right from wrong.
Your completely missing the point. If Hull City were unfairly evicted from the KC and had to play at North Ferriby would that be fine because they still existed or would you be annoyed?
Just like the SMC then. How much rent have they paid the Council since the Allams took over? A lot less than the Trampoline club paid the SMC, I think.
It's only the fact that it's the Allams that it gets mentioned at all. If it was HCC owned and the council decided to close it down due to austerity cutbacks, it would just be accepted.
How much have the Allams/SMC paid year on year for the upkeep of the stadium and Arena? Millions? Why should they subsidise other minority sports?
You mean like the council tried with other leisure facilities such as Ennerdale, but decided against it after consultation and representation from the users and interested parties?
They put it into the hands of a management company to avoid such a thing happening. Unfortunately they're ****s & have closed it anyway for their own exclusive financial benefit.
I don't recall an uproar about Ennerdale on here though. Maybe someone could post a link to the numerous threads?
Standard commercial practice. Usually if you have a long term commercial lease you are responsible for the upkeep. They may have paid millions but they should get that back from their tenants. They subsidise other sports because Hull City Council, in effect, subsidised Hull City and Hull FC. It was the quid pro quo for the use of the KC.
So everything has to run through Not606 or nobody gives a ****? Ridiculous. I've got one that's ON topic for you... you're an idiot.
It's a nonsense argument you're offering, as nobody was getting evicted without representations being fully heard and considered, and it wasn't to replace the user's with a single group, but without searching too hard, it gets a mention in the linked thread and a few others. http://www.not606.com/threads/£20m-...ool-plan-for-bond-street.293778/#post-7678544
