Humbercare's Centre for Assessment and Emergency Accommodation is not a place anyone on here would be happy living opposite, it's described as a homeless hostel, but it's more of a medical facility for junkies.

Yeah you're right, I don't know it. It was described as a hostel for the homeless and I questioned why it's such an issue to have that near an area where kids play? If it is used as a place to house people who pose a threat to society and / or juveniles then maybe it should've been described as such and therefore I wouldn't have questioned it.
Well now you know <ok>

Unfortunately we have to have these places.
The bail hostel is still on the corner. Of queens isn't it? That's been there for years.
Anyway mr ndenu sounds a right arsehole. Attacked an autistic kid a few years ago.

And if the original post had said 'whose idea was it to house people convicted of dangerous assault and supply of drugs opposite a playground where kids play?' then I wouldn't have questioned it.

But it didn't say that.

People seem to be reacting as if I have said something stupid and / or offensive here when I merely questioned the vilification of people who are unfortunate enough to not be able to house themselves for what could be a multitude of tragic reasons that would not pose a threat to playing children.

As I said, I live very nearby and so maybe I'm a little bit touchy on the subject.

If you can explain to me why someone who isn't able to house themselves shouldn't be near kids playing then that would be super.

Depends why they aren't able to house themselves. If you would be happy to have a load of people sat around drinking cheap cider near your kids fine.

You do have to wonder why a lot of people (not all) are homeless. I'm 100% certain a friend would put me up. Don't they have friends or family? If not why not? There has to be a reason why nobody will do that for you.

And before anyone gives me **** for this, I'm not talking about immigrants.

What if the cause of their problem was family and / or friends?
