I agree, it was terrible. As I understand it Musk offered the interview unexpectedly and at the last minute, sort of now or never job. The lad who did it might not have been BBC's preferred choice and he may have had little time to prepare. If this is the case it's tough to criticise him too much, but I'd criticise BBC for allowing themselves to be steamrollered into it. Musk's a canny operator, he'd see off many a seasoned interviewer.

In fact it was the opposite, the BBC just turned up at his offices and asked for an interview, musk said yes and gave the interview. The guy from the BBC was just terrible

Dear BBC,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the salary of David Burns at the BBC.

As a license fee payer, I am interested in understanding how the BBC spends its budget on talent and personnel. Specifically, I am interested in obtaining the following information:

  1. The total remuneration, including any bonuses or other forms of compensation, paid to David Burns in the most recent fiscal year for which this information is available.

  2. The breakdown of this remuneration, including salary, bonuses, and any other forms of compensation such as pension contributions, car allowances, or other benefits.

  3. The total number of episodes or shows that David Burns appeared in during the most recent fiscal year.

  4. Any other relevant information regarding the remuneration of David burns that may be available.
Please provide this information in an electronic format, preferably via email. If the information requested is not held by the BBC or is exempt from disclosure, please let me know as soon as possible.

I understand that the BBC is required to respond to my request within 20 working days of receipt. If you require any further information or clarification from me to process this request, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,

chazz

Is he actually or is it just that he's rich so we have to pretend he's really smart? Seems an absolute clown from his public presence.

Ok, I've just read up a bit more. The bbc fella asked for an interview around midday, Musk offered that same night. So the bbc fella was, in fact, stitched up good and proper. Serves him right really.

I don't think you can get that rich by not being media savvy. I don't know about smart, that's too subjective.

So he has time to prepare and in all honesty should have been fully prepared anyway before asking just incase. He made himself look extremely stupid and incompetent. If your going to accuse something then have facts and examples to back it up and better still don't change your story half way through.

I don't really have an opinion of musk either way, but anyone's who watches that interview can't think the BBC/interviewer where anything but awful

Yep, complete shambles from BBC.

Should have done a bit more prep before my first post... :emoticon-0102-bigsm

The best...... Go watch the recent BBC interview with Elon musk and then try to defend them as the best. If thats the quality of journalists that our license fee goes towards then they really are in trouble.
So one piece on the BBC is what we judge the entire TV and radio output by? Are you serious? You're surely not that much of an idiot? Maybe you could list the public broadcasters that you think are better than the BBC?

Through acquisitions and hiring the right ppl, he's turned a few million into X billion in 23 years... Created an international brand, satellite system cheaper and more efficiently than any government could and donates hundreds of millions to charity. Yet he's mostly publicly known and referenced for winding ppl up on twitter.

For some reason, perhaps boredom or being a high functioning autist, he's got involved in social media, to the horror of his investors and Qatar, and seems to be having a laugh getting reactions from millions of social media users in flame wars. Not sure he takes it that seriously and I'll never understand why others do.

Amazing how so many idiots make a lot of money whilst the people calling them idiots don’t.
