That wasn’t an accusation of sexism at you. I said I was surprised a rather right on PC type hadn’t accused you of sexism when you said she was a looker. As for analysing, have you seen the guff about stats and analysing by people on here?
Was on about all this xGs, xAs etc with my wife who used to go to games with me. She said that our lots discussion after the game was good game, bad game a quick talk about the goals and after that the main topic was whose round is it.

I can think of a lot better lookers than her but I wouldn’t pay them to commentate on football. My opinion is that she should be involved up in the things he has knowledge of, women’s football. Rugby union is going down the same path, women pundits on whose caps they laughably equate to men’s caps (look at how many caps Alex Scott has compared to club appearances, same in rugby, then compare the ration in the men’s game). Rugby League is the only one resisting it but give it time.

She doesn’t come across well and has an irritating voice. As is the case with a lot of the male pundits. We managed for decades without women involved in men’s football commentaries. Let them be involved with their own and don’t have men commentating on the women’s games.

Someone’s idea of diversity reflecting the population. Maybe some of them are men self identifying as women or vice versa?

    Don't we?
What men's games does Alex Scott commentate on anyway?

And don’t have men commentating on women’s games either means do not having them commenting on them, not we don’t have them.
Pontificating may be more accurate a description. Though she comments on what may or did happen.

Yeah, exactly. Or were you being sarcastic as if it's time and emotional energy well spent gnashing ones teeth about people that are puposely trying to get a reaction? And in any case, I'm not sure its really a fair comparison when the names mentioned are trying to stoke some sort of culture war and football pundits are saying a manager should be playing five at the back.

Rugby League on SKY is resisting it, however it will be no surprise for you to hear that the BBC and Channel 4 always seem to ensure there is one female player involved now.

You are right. It is no surprise. And even less people will be aware of who they are than the football and union ones.

probably something to do with the RL women's game having literally zero public profile and that's even if they even have a professional women's game.

Same with women’s union players, though they keep thrashing all the other women’s teams. Show people of the Lionesses and most people couldn’t name them.

No issue with a female commentator or analyst but it's just madness the way they now often over-compensate, meaning instead of being there on merit, there's often more than one involved, which is obviously / clearly a box ticking or virtue signaling type decision.
As bad, if not more so, is the way women's football fixtures and results, and even to a degree news, are fully integrated with men's. I really aren't interested in, and don't want to see women's matches in among mens when I'm looking on whatever platform. Women's games should have their own listings, should be there under their own menu selection, etc, not integrated.
It's crackers, bollox forcing an integration into men's football. It isn't, never will be, and should never be the same.

Dunno, think women's RU and cricket do have a professional profile.

Personally I don't give a **** whether commentators are male of or female as long as they're good at what they do and have a professional perspective on the sport they're commentating on.

I'm actually happy to see less PL-centric coverage and see the profile of the women's game and lower leagues increased. It's basically why Wrexham going global is a positive for me.

Banging on about specifically women commentators does allude to a certain bias on your part don't you think?

It's not integration now is it. It's just not relying on the same old ex PL and England boys club for media work spouting the same old established perspectives and clichéd bullshit.

Integration might not be the best word, others might come up with better, but it was the one I thought of to describe how I see what is happening.
However, what we are having shoved in our faces these days so to speak is certainly NOT being driven by an agenda of 'not relying on the same old ex PL and England boys club .....'.!! And that is a FACT.
