I think there is a good chance that McLaren will be our next manager. If I remember correctly he was reported as the other interviewed candidate when Bruce got the job.

To be honest with managers who used to play for the club things can sometimes click that didn't work at other clubs. I do think he'll be looking for a Championship job next, the Allams will want someone on the cheap, and with his damaged rep it may be a match made in heaven.
Mentioned on radio the other day… Chris Coleman would be a good choice for any Championship club if he wants to get back into league management after the Euro's..
Thats not the case at all otherwise when a manager leaves a club to go manage a new club there would never be any compensation the manager would just give notice.
The contact is there for a reason. A manager is contacted to do a job for a specific amount of time if he doesnt do that job the club has to be compensated.
Usually when a manager leaves by mutual consent its because the team isnt doing well and the manager feels it is the right thing to do to offer to walk away if the club want and the club decide its in the best interest of all parties if the decide to part company.
Obviously results havent been as everyone wanted so Bruce has held his hands up and said Im the manager I take responsibility I will leave if you want me to (if you believe the rumor in the first place) and the club have decided thats its actually better if he stays as manager (at least for the moment)
There's a difference between a new company (club) hiring someone employed somewhere else, and thus buying out his contract at the other club (compensation) and a manager being fed up with his working environment and wanting to quit.
But any manager would just hand his notice in and walk away as hes "fed up with his working environment" then when out of work get offered a new job by from another club and no compensation would be paid.

Do none of you have contracts with your employers over there? I'm on a contract. If I give 4 weeks notice I can quit. I don't have to stay with the firm for the duration of the contract no matter what against my will.
I'd definitely have McClaren until the end of the season coaching and running sessions under Bruce. His sessions are meant to be immense. Might give the team the creative boost they are screaming for.
MOTD pundits were pointing out how much better Newcastle's defence is organised now after a little while under Rafa. That doesn't make McClaren look good. It's surprising in a way though because if McClaren is known for anything it's being a good coach, if not so much a good manager.
You may have been joking here, but if not, please, get a grip. It's getting hysterical on here. We are 4th in the Championship. I've supported the club for 50 years including when we were 6 points adrift at bottom of League 2 and in real danger of going into the Conference. If we don't go up this season and have a new manager next season, we start again with a decent group of young players under contract. And hopefully a bit more sanity among the supporters
I do wonder what Wolves, Bolton, Wigan et al wouldve thought of 4th place after getting relegated? I saw an interesting stat the other day, isnt it a ridiculously low number of teams have been promoted straight back up to the Prem in recent years?
Yes I have a contract and I have to give one months notice as that is what is stated in my contract, football managers dont have this in their contract as the clubs dont want them to have the opportunity to just walk away but instead their contract is for a fixed amount of time and at the end of that period they can walk away or as is often the case the contract gets renegotiated before it runs out, or the clubs terminates the contract and has to pay compensation or the manager leaves and has to pay compensation.
Im guessing your contract doesnt end in a year or two and then you are unemployed
No because my contract will be automatically renewed provided I meet certain requirements.
Really not sure how the concept of a man being able to quit his job is being debated so endlessly. No one can be forced to remain in a job they don't want to be in.
Hell, Bruce is on record as saying he offered his resignation last summer.

I got told by an ex manager that SB had a massive row with Ehab over the Gray signing which never happened, Ehab threatened to sack Bruce but his dad stepped in and said no, now the ex manager lives near me but i was 50/50 at the time about believing him and i still am, things can be said for different reasons in this case SB could or couldn't have offered his resignation because he certainly looks down at the moment how ever if someone really wants to leave they will do so no matter what, i think one thing Bruce has got is personnel pride no matter how many mistakes he as made and nothing would please him more than to take this club up and even then he might walk away but with his head held high. At this moment in time with the team playing so poor, the off the field problems its looking unlikely but one thing for sure as we near the play offs is that SB and all the players need as much backing and encouragement as possible because the chance is still there.
