Well Stirling, to be frank your suggestion as to who could/should be manager would not matter one little bit, however this is a discussion board and you have expressed the opinion of change, but I think we all agree that this must be for the better and my philosophy is that you only sack a manager when/if you someone better to take over and I do not see any better replacement out there right now. So in Steve we trust.
So Rev, I believe you have just supported my post that it is going to be hard to find a better manaqer than SB? Are you confirming your opinion that these are suitable or unsuitable?
Well no, we can't continue in the same way we have been otherwise promotion isn't going to happen. I get the feeling that some people would rather see us in the Championship with Steve Bruce and his gentle, soft voice after matches than see us in the Premier League where we really should be. As for names, I'd go with Oscar Garcia.
We can win any game at this level. The problem is how often we don't win when we're playing easy opposition. This season's Championship is piss weak.
Of course i want us to be but why should "we really be there" Are we bigger more deserving, more entitled, than say Fulham, Wolves, Forest, Blackburn, Leeds, QPR, Birmingham, Sheff wed, Ipswich, Burnley, Brighton, Derby, Middlesbrough?? Are we?
Given their squads didn't cost nearly as much as ours, nor are they are of Premier League quality like ours is, yes, we are. There's more of an expectation on us from all sides, so why should we settle for less? Do they have equivalents of Dawson, Robertson, Hernandez, Elmo, Diame, Snodgrass, Maloney et al? Or do we make the other team look better because we're playing ****?
I think you've had too much of the Christmas "spirit" - that's a complete load of rubbish! The Championship is as competitive as ever.
OK, what would the table look like if we'd beaten Rotherham, Leeds and Charlton? Regardless of how competitive it is or isn't, we still shouldn't be playing this badly.
Stick to facts, not hypothetical supposition. We didn't beat them and we're only one win away from automatic promotion. Stop panicking!
People can throw names around all they want, Mike Phelan will take over if SB goes, he left Norwich as assistant because he got overlooked for the managers job by some no one from Scotland,(I know he got them promoted & had some good results), he came here to assist & be ready if SB goes! If I had any, I'd put money on it, if SB goes!
Say the people asking me to hypothesise Bruce's replacement. I'm not panicking at all, I know the squad is good enough. The concern stems from how badly they're playing when we've all seen these players play far better. If Leeds was a one off and we'd won every game like we did Boro or Cardiff then we wouldn't be having this conversation, would we? So, let's look at the facts. We've played 4 teams in the bottom half, two of which are in the bottom 3. The other team in the bottom three, Charlton, we also lost to earlier this season. We didn't just lose, we ****ed up royally. If we'd battered them and drawn or even lost 1-0, it'd be at least easier to take. But the manner in which the team are playing, this nonchalant attitude that they can stroll around with their hands in their metaphorical pockets and assume that winning against a team below us is a forgone conclusion, is ****ing disgraceful. At least in the Premier League we were expected to lose half the games and we still gave a decent account of ourselves, we were never this bad even when we were struggling in the later bit of the season. All this "we're only one win away" stuff, how is that good enough? Suppose we don't beat Burnley, then it's two wins and so on. We were only one win away from staying in the Premier League, but look where it got us. We don't want to be "one win away", we want to be at the top, not chasing wins to catch up to others.
It's the Bruce in lot asking for names to be suggested! Anyway, in most cases assistants go with the manager as the incoming manager usually uses their own backroom staff.
I'm thinking about what he said when he left Norwich, plus the Allams will see him as a cheap option IMO, maybe like Brownie, he gets the temporary job, does well then gets it full time! Anyway just my thoughts if the big IF actually happened, which I still don't believe it will!
It's with good reason that some of us are asking for names to be suggested. As I have said many times before - Hull City have too often in the past dismissed a manager without having a clue who will take over. Result has always been a disaster.
Absolutely agree with this. Accepting just being in with a shout is not good enough. We need promotion this year. It's not like 2008 where it'd be nice and romantic to go up, we actually need to know and there's no reason we can't win the league. You do like to say these things. Firstly the Allamesque obsession with calling those who disagree with you a minority. Plenty of replacements have been suggested but I still don't see why this is necessary. I always thought it was quite shabby to be lining up a manager while you've still got one. I don't get where this idea has come from that it's the done thing. Even if it was, we're City fans, we obviously don't know as much about other clubs as we do our own. Whilst there are a few good managers out of work who I'd be delighted with, the issue is that we're playing like **** with increasing regularity under Bruce and obviously don't have the attacking intent to win the league. We do have the players though. So whoever replaced him would have a very good chance of turning it around and would get my support for doing so just as Bruce has done for long enough.
I've no idea, neither have you, that was my point. One thing I am certain of, the number of fans wanting a change of manager is significant and increasing game by game.
