as for Gulacsi & Mclean, its far to easy to dismiss before they have been given a chance.

Agreed mate, Cairney was great in the prem and has been garbage in the NPC. McLean works his arse off, has pace and strength, he'd worth a crack if we were to go up but i would want another option as he could easily be proven well out of his depth as well.

As for Gulacsi, the guy was a bag of nerves when playing against Blackpool, he's clearly too young to have a crack at the big time. He has shown the potential to grow into a good keeper though and he's got all the time in the world to do that.

These are the typical sort of players who people will say this about. Every tiem Ash got promoted he was 'not ready' for the next level whereas everyone thought the likes of Green and Elliott would do well in the higher leagues. How did that work out again?

Thinking about it, I've seen people say on here that Chester and Stewart aren't 'ready' for the PL. If that's the case would we have to buy an entire new team upon promotion?

AP has been in the Premiership twice and has been relegated twice. On both occasions he unfairly sacked the people who got them there and replaced them with ****ter managers.

There's absolutely no reason to suggest he can handle the PL, and every reason to suggest he can't.

Pearson actually gave Brown the chance to turn things around though. Given our poor league form over the 10 months previous and perilous league position Pearson could well have come in and got rid of Brown there and then, but was prepared to give Brown the opportunity to turn things around and see how things turned out with Duffen out of the frame. Brown had the opportunity to turn things around and despite a few exceptions such as both our games with Man City and Chelsea at home we were pretty woeful. We failed to beat the likes of Blackburn and Wolves and putting in abject performances accompained with heavy defeats such as at West Ham and Everton. I think we all expected the season to be a struggle, but as I said in a previous post Brownie didn't use the resources at his disposal to the best of his ability, playing players out of position, daft substitutions and not swallowing his pride and playing players who he did not see eye to eye with at times. We showed our potential to compete in said games against the big teams, but when it mattered we were found wanting. The sacking came at a strange time and indeed his replacement was questionable, but who else was going to take it? Brown maybe should have seen the season out with us, 100% of which I'm certain would have seen us relegated to the Championship and maybe Brown could have had the opportunity to try and take us back up. But, the way things had been going for the 12 months previous, Pearson was perfectly inclined to feel someone else could take the job, someone to implement new and fresh ideas. Since early 2009 things hadn't been working out for Brown here, a fresh challenge is maybe what was best for both parties. As good as his achievements were with us they were in the past, the present situation is what mattered and a new brush to sweep clean is what we needed.

certainly not ready for the type of PL clubs who have been linked with signing them in january thats for sure. but maybe in the future who knows ? hopefully with hull city.

I didn't mention howlers, i think he's too young and nervous to make it in the prem, he needs to grow in confidence a lot more if he's going to be a prem keeper which i'm sure Liverpool are hoping he does. But as for now, i'd want a better 2nd keeper if we were to get the prem, if we signed him i'd send him on loan to a championship club to get some experience

i assume the derby manager you refer to is billy davies who left with derby in last place with 6 points from 14 games and no goals for 6 games. but i know that's the kind of record that impresses you. it's just that most of the rest of the footballing world dont have your patience and respect for people who achieve such records.

as for pearson unfairly sacking people, you would no doubt be happy if every manager who had promoted a team were allowed a whole season to relegate them as well. when pearson returned to city we had 8 points from 11 games but took 7 from the next 3. then 9 from the next 15. we won 5 out of brown's last 57 games.

Turner was sold because the bank wanted the overdraft repaying. This was thanks to all the cash Bart had taken out the club to support his failing construction company. Not to mention the enormous wage bills we had each month. The fact that he paid the money back into the club 'later' does not matter. At the time, the bank got the willies and had no faith in Bart. Losing Turner really screwed us.

The thing that REALLY annoys me about these "After The Fact Know It Alls" coming out with all this BS is that it taints something that should remain something we remember with pride. These people haven't got a clue about what goes on behind the scenes, and yet they feel themselves qualified to pass judgement on people who are or have been many times more successful than they could ever hope to be in their pathetic little lives.

I think, as a club, we were completly unprepared for the Premiership, there were many things that went on that shouldn't have. Phil Brown had his faults, but it just seems to me the focus of everyone's malcontent is always on him and it just aint true or fair to do that.

I think Brownie was a decent guy that worked a miracle with us. He was the one who was then saddled with the almost impossible task of keeping us where he had got there despite all the player issues, the money issues, the leadership issues aboove him, the media issues etc etc. Eventually, I think the pressure got the better of him. But he was in a situation I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

I will always respect and thank the guy for what he did for me after so many years of failure. I'm certain he has been damaged by what came after, something that he may well never recover from, but I wish him all the best for whatever he does in the future.

I don't wish to judge, but I am entitled to my opinion. The two are pretty much the same I suppose. I notice you've decided to have an opinion on it too. You judging swine.

I'll stop short at saying you have a 'pathetic little life' simply because I don't share your views. I guess I'm just better than that. Or just less angry. Or less obnoxious.

One thing I will say, is that Brown will never be a Prem manager again. Reason? He's not good enough. I don't deny what he did in getting there (well done and thank you) but it won't happen again. He did brilliant things for a while, then massive flaws became apparent. I won't rip him to shreds for it, just point it out. It's a debating forum after all.
