I met up with Brian that day in The Scottish Stores on the Caledonian Road, all too briefly alas, as I think he had to meet with you for lunch? He was with someone, I'm sorry if I've failed to recognise you!
It was a pleasure discussing football, ale and golf with Brian, not to mention his exploits in the WPL!
I can assure everyone else on this board that I found Brian to be as pleasant in the real world as he was in the virtual. He will be missed.

My condolences to you and your family.

Simon,
Brian was really well thought of by those that actually met him and others who just had contact through the forum. He was always positive and had an abundance of interesting stories about WFC and his life in the States. My wife and I were again looking forward to his next visit. He will be sorely missed by us all.

Simon, I hope, now that you have found this group, that you will continue to contribute, it would be a nice link to Brian, who really was very popular and well respected.

I hope I am not out of line with this invite as I am only an honourary horn!

Thankyou I’ll try ,I really have big shoes to fill don’t I.

Paul And I met yesterday and he said the same how it would be a lovely tribute to him and he has let me into all his secrets now on how he was so successful ☺️ So watch out ,he’d prob laugh at that he was a true tactician and everything had a method ,I’m definitely not like that and my memory is like a sieve and doesn’t work the same way ,wish it did but I’ll do my best ,I’m just about to check his last results see how he got on ,I’m prob not completely up to date on how it all works but I’ll get there and I’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun.

Brian's Predictions League 2019/20

League Table

Close observation of the thread title will show that the name of our league has changed, and most of us already know the reason why, and would agree that the change is the right thing to do. Brian was a much valued contributor to these threads and to our little league here - for which I feel privileged. We are all a lot poorer now but have gained a new poster in SimonWFCDean who will be continuing to tip under his Dad's name (I think i've understood that one right ?). I think I can speak for all of us in wishing that we had met Simon under very different circumstances.

Very little of note to report this week. With Man City appearing to have thrown in the towel in the title race, a disaster for the Hornets and no less than three goalless draws elsewhere we were all scratching for points. Nonetheless we all managed to beat Lawro's score, who was scratching even more than us. As a result Hackney moves into second. Seb jumped above his Dad ! Fez managed the highest score with a modest 70. We now enter the winter break with reduced Premiership programmes for a couple of weeks - which means grappling with some local non league fixtures, amongst others.

League Table

Due to postponements it was something of a reduced round this week with only 6 of the 10 matches actually taking place. In the event of posters having placed their jokers on postponed matches then I have transfered it over to the Udinese fixture - this was the one that was sure to take place. Obviously the ten points for tipping stands as always. With fewer fixtures than normal it was doubly important to get the Watford score correct - against a week of low scoring a few of us made hay. Highest of the day was my own followed by Frenchie with 101, and Matej at the top shows no sign of faltering with a strong score of 82. With the fixtures for next week I have made a few changes to those shown on the future predictions thread - and avoided the non league fixtures indicated there. A pity really but the risk of postponements there is much higher if the weather turns nasty.

Cologne, Are you sure that my score is correct? I predicted the Watford score correctly and I got other results right. Sorry to complain.

I have double checked all of the scores because there were a couple of mistakes in the original. Unfortunately the postponed matches in combination with having to transfer jokers from those games - further combined with a raging storm outside and the likelihood of suddenly being without electricity led to me doing the scoring quicker than usual. Everything should be ok. now. I am always thankfull when posters control their own scores because mistakes can happen at my end.

Thank you for all your work, Cologne. I know it must be time consuming.

League Table

The difference a goal can make ! All the drama of this round came in the time added on at Arsenal where two extra goals in combination with a well placed joker ensured a bag full of points for Paul. The highest score of the round takes him up to second in the table. Up to that point it had been a rather nondescript round with a couple of tips right on the Celtic match but nothing else of note, and most of us scrambling for average points. Also a nondescript day for the Billygoats at the Rheinenergiestadion - starting the match with all the energy levels of a marmot on sleeping pills - thus meaning that everyone else was right and I was wrong <doh>. We now get back to normal next week with a normal Premiership round.
