I think the present system with a tweak for the alternative vote (I made a mistake about the name earlier) would be preferable.

When there are single issues of such fundamental importance such as Scottish independence, EU remain/leave and major changes to the constitution I think referendums are required.
Wasn't too hard was it?

You just keep on polishing the turd if you wish, it's still a turd.

Can you explain why there is the slightest chance of the loss of Gibraltar?

To remain in the EU they become Spanish. Same with North Ireland. If they want to remain in the EU they become Irish. No messing about like the Scottish for them.

I think everyone should take a breather.
I voted in but can see both sides of the argument where most on here cant.
Lets see after negotiations because it may end up to something similar to what we have and im sure THEN both sudes will claim victory.
Why do you say most people can't see both sides of the argument. The Remain people seem to think that letting the EU order them around is worth it for being inside the EU and the certainty of being able to trade with the EU.
The Leave people want to decide their own laws and are willing to negotiate deals all around the world without any certainty.

Gibraltar don't want to become Spanish.
Only 1.03% voted for shared sovereignty in 2002
I dont think that will change much even if they do want to be part of the EU.

This. Not sure how anyone could argue with this point but someone has found a way.

We all want what's best for the country, we just have different ideas on what that is. Time will tell, I actually hope I'm completely wrong, as that will mean everything goes swimmingly.

In 2002 no Northern Irish unionist would have considered applying for an Irish passport. Momentous events bring momentous change. Gibraltar voting to join Spain is a possibility in the new world Cameron has created.

That wont happen either.
In a 2013 survey only 15% of Northern Ireland wanted a united Ireland and 66% wanted to remain part of the UK.

In 2016 the UK voted to end all EU aid to Northern Ireland, against their wishes. The world changed on Thursday. All bets are now off for the future of the United Kingdom.

And if we go down the Turkey route we will apply to join the EU!?
What is the point of making these statements it's never going to happen.
The referendum was fought on sovereignty and immigration. I doubt any negotiations will even mention free movement of people because it is just too ridiculous to consider.
Can you imagine splitting up from a girlfriend because she cheated on you and then you met up and she wanted to get back with you but she says: "oh, is it OK if I sleep around, too?"
Listen the leave campaign where bigging up the deal the ****ing Norwegian and Swiss have with the EU and that was the deal we should go for. If you actually bothered to read the deal the two of them have they are not paying much less than what we where and they have no say in any ****ing thing that happens. They also have to accept free movement of EU Citizens across their borders. The leave campaign certainly didn't mention any of that in their campaign. Now I am just passing on that nugget of information so that when the negotiations go down that path you realised that the leave campaign throughly shafted the British Public over migration. If you have a problem with that ****ing tough ****.

Stop assuming a air of superiority Peter.
I put up a perfectly reasonable post and you still chose to read some arguement into it.
Like i said take a breather.

What you mean the money that came from the UK and the EU gave some to Northern Ireland?

I really cant wait for everything to get really damn expensive...
then I can say... "I ****ing told you so!"

No Tory will want to be the man who steps forward as an unelected PM and presses the button on article 50.

Cameron has snookered Johnson by immediately walking away from it and refusing to be the man who puts his name to it.
Cameron has proved that he is no better than those who have bleated about the result. His 'its my ball and I'm going home' attitude says everything about the man. Instead of being remembered as one of the better PM's of recent times seeing us through some tough circumstances after 2008, he came back from Brussels with a piece of paper which meant **** all to the 'majority' of the electorate of this country. Now, he and his cohorts are not actually doing what they are employed by you and I to do which is to follow through on his promises to get the country out of the EU instead through due process and they have disappeared up their own orifices whimpering. His privileged public school attitude is everything that is wrong with this country, you only have to see the pet lips of those that lost a swathe of which are older children rather than call them young adults from privileged backgrounds. The dividing line in the sand between the haves and have nots, the north and south has been highlighted to a huge extreme but will never be swept under the carpet again.

Can you provide any link where the Leave campaign said they wanted similar deals to that which Norway and Switzerland have?
It's not a "nugget of information" - it's a downright lie. Of course I have a problem with somebody lying. But you can go right ahead and lie as much as you want. I don't think anybody believes you and nobody can produce any evidence.
