With the greatest of respect, it's now very obvious that despite pleading and pointing to the metrics, Nathan is making it up as he goes along. He'll have some more nonsense lined up tomorrow when he oversees another ham-fisted effort of a performance at Brentford.

I can confirm that this is what the greatest of respect looks like, as I count exactly zero asterisks indicating the sorts of flavourful verbiage his words tend to provoke.

I'm going to throw in a real curveball. If we're going to play 5-3-2 (we shouldn't, but if), and we're going to use Onuachu up top, our wingbacks should be Perraud on the left...and JWP on the right. JWP is basically the only player in the squad that can hit good crosses from deeper positions. He also very much blows hot and cold in that advanced midfield position; there are games where he's influential, and many where he's pretty anonymous.

But at wingback he hits some wonderful balls into the box, and if we're doing a Che/Onuachu front pair, we'll actually have two attackers that are good from crosses. Also allows us to move Alvarez further up the pitch to focus on providing some flair and drive forward with fewer defensive duties.

Bering very even handed. Lyanco has put some belters into the box from deep including the one that Mara slotted away against City.

F*cking save the moaning guys until;

a) Jones has picked the team
b) We’re playing badly
c) We’ve lost

Pre-match is all about irrational hope, and puns.

Things are going swimmingly and we will win tomorrow Cod willing.

Is that right? There's a scale I'm sure and I don't want to be on the hook for getting it wrong but wanted to get my feet wet. ...Holding my breath.

I fell asleep at 10pm, woke up at 2am. So I think I'm just pot-committed to sticking it out for this match, lest I fall asleep again and miss what will undoubtedly be a tactical masterclass and instant classic.

(if you start drinking at 4-something am, is that considered merely late or terrifyingly early?)
