I don’t think it is a circle of decline though. The new owners have spent significant money on improving this squad (which was previously nowhere near PL standard, yet Ralph kept us in the league, somehow, despite this). If early Ralph inherited the squad we have now, I’d suspect we’d end up around 12th.
I don’t think anyone has mentioned it yet but I am pretty sure that JWP said something along the lines of “we have lost a lot of experience from the squad unfortunately”. Maybe it’s just me but the use of the word “unfortunately” implies that he doesn’t agree with having so much youth in the team and as much as he was laying blame on the players, this is his way of saying that SR have ****ed up with their over reliance on inexperienced kids.
I agree with most of this, but relegation is not yet certain and until it is that's my stance. Pedantic point may be and probably in a minority of one.Still that's sport for you. Enjoyed reading your post.
This is one of the paradoxes in Jones’ behaviour for me. He rants on about things not having been right in the club for a year, but then falls out with two of our newer players, in Oršić’s case, brand new. None of it makes any logical sense. In my experience, if people are behaving irrationally and saying irrational things, one of the reasons is that they know they aren’t coping with a situation. If that’s the case, he should be removed from the situation for his own good apart from any other reason.
Didn't Hansen mention those.words after Villa beat Manchester United around 1996, 97 or 98 in the opening round of fixtures?
Anyone fancy doing the Wolves thread? I appreciate the cloud of uncertainty that hangs over the club makes it difficult but it would be good to have something to focus on.
