I seem to remember them threatening us with a fine/a transfer ban but not implementing it? (Correct me if I'm wrong) Can certainly remember teams getting promoted from the Chmapionship and the issue been swept under the rug - so you're not wrong if Villa are punished if they fail to beat Fulham <ok>

Yep both ties Dai - a week apart.

I think that's what most are hoping for. Fulham certainly deserve promotion. <ok>

I seem to remember it was more than a threat Sheepy. Wasn't a transfer ban on us put in place a couple of seasons back and that was the reason we couldn't buy Zohore at the time?

From memory, Odense wanted the money from a cash sale for him and Tan's Belgian club (Kortrijk?) had to buy him and lend him to us until the ban was lifted.

I believe that the ban was imposed only because accounting methods differed, and it turned out to be a very dubious decision by the EFL.

e certainly DID have a transfer ban for a period. And iot WAS for breach of FFP rules, whatever they ar. Also, hasn't Mr Tan had to limit his debt/equity conversions to comply with FFP?

This I can remember. Always thought it was strange to be caught by FFP when we were striving to cut back so much during those seasons. <ok>

    On with the preview....

    Capaldi Cup Final

    Barry Tiger
    [PLD:4 W:3 L:1 High Score: 7 pts]
    vs
    Blue Sheep [PLD;9 W:5 L:4 High Score: 7 pts]

    Road To The Final
If this final were to occur in the FA Cup it would probably be a bit like Everton taking on Crystal Palace - practically unheard of in the age of money. Never before in the history of the Capaldi Cup have the 4th and 6th seeds made it so far in the competition - much favored predictors being dumped out left, right and center! <laugh> We're yet to work out exactly what @Barry Tiger had over both @ninian opinion & @william5551 (but we have to assume it was a large pay out! <yikes>) as both kindly stepped aside to give BT a free pass through to the final. It was myself who had to do the hard work - firstly struggling past a strong performance from @jonahbluebird (7-5) and then capping a miserable season for @irishbluebird (5-3).

    Preview
Keeping with the above image, both Palarse and Everton would be tripping over themselves at the prospect of silverware this season - and its hard to think of either myself or BT getting such a good shot at silverware in a season. Especially after we both have spent a good deal of the season flirting with the drop zone - BT was close to the bottom at Christmas before recovering in the 2nd half of the season and I only stayed up on CS's on the final day. So expect a final that probably reflects this - as we probably not going to get a better chance <ok> Given the abject finish next season will be my first not competing at this elite level <wah> Barry can take encouragement from the fact @BluefromBridgend has already won this cup...

Best of luck BT. <ok> Send me a PM with your predictions and I won't open it. (I have a cunning way of proving that I wont open it). I'll post my predictions on this thread (in white)

    Capaldi Cup Final 2018

    Barry Tiger vs Blue Sheep

Chelsea vs Manchester United (Saturday 19th May @ 5:15)
Fulham vs Aston Villa (Saturday 26th May @5:00)

I think that is because of Malaysia's banking rules, he converts all he's allowed every year.

Go BT!!! As Keith Lemon would say, "Smash his back doors in".

I'm relying on you to fly the flag for the cheap seats in the Ninian Stand. <ok>

Our mutual friend has just acquired a seat in Row B in front of us so the cheap seats are extremely popular, just like their occupants :emoticon-0148-yes:

Unfortunately don’t think we’re in the same ball park as United, Chelsea or Juve?

Clearly great minds think alike... and all get the result of the FA Cup final wrong <laugh> That means that there are limited points and we head into the 2nd legs with everything to play for!

Div II Playoff Final - FrankfurterBlue 1 - 1 Dai Jones
Both predict that United will by a 2-1 and that Hazard would score Chelsea's goal (what turned out to the winner), so this one is tied with a single point apiece ahead this weekends Playoff Final.

    Furter
    2-1 United - Pogba (FS), Hazard & Lingard = 1 pts
    Dai
    2-1 United - Hazard, Lingard (FS) & Pogba = 1 pts

Capaldi Cup Final - Barry Tiger 0 - 0 Blue Sheep
Neither myself or BT can find a point from last weekends match - onto the next one then!

    BT
    2-0 United - Lingard (FS) & Sanchez = 0 pts

    Sheep
    2-1 United - Giroud, Sanchez & Pogba (FS) = 0pts

    <ok>

Got to say, I was tempted to PM Dai with the suggestion we send you the exact same prediction and sent our real ones to someone like Sparkey to hold. Can't see our predictions could have been any closer!!!!

Nope - it's got to fund next seasons losses.........<laugh>

Seriously though, I took a punt and stuck 70 quid total down before the start of the season on a combo of City finishing top 6, Promo by any route and top 2 for the autos. I cashed out the top 6 punt for a healthy profit when it looked like a certainty (are there any such things?) and then on the last day stuck 40 quid on Fulham not winning their game at Brum.

In total a return of £604 was compensation enough for the nerves....<laugh>
