The agent of Liverpool forward Fabio Borini has told the Italian media that his believes client wants to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place. The Italian international spent last season on loan with Sunderland and the Premier League side want to make his move a permanent one.

Speaking to TMW Marco De Marchi said that Borini is a gambler and wants to remain at Liverpool. He said that they are not worried about the competition for places at the Merseyside club despite Brendan Rodgers being able to pick from the likes of Daniel Strurridge and Rickie Lambert. De Marchi pointed to the fact that when Borini was playing for AS Roma he had a number of great players in his way for the forward places and therefore this is no different to the situation at Liverpool.

"After the loan Liverpool did not tell me anything. He will remains for me, he is convinced to gamble. In Rome there were Totti, Osvaldo, Lamela, and Bojan: he has no fear of playing with anyone, for me he can be part of any staff of a top club," said his agent when asked about his future with Liverpool.

Borini spent last season on loan at Sunderland and was instrumental in the club staying in the Premier League. It looked like the North East club would be dropping down into the Championship but with Borini’s performances in the final weeks of the season this helped the club avoid the drop.

He's contracted to a club in Europe that almost won the league.

Sunderland had a poor season and may have an average one this time if we're lucky.

Can't blame him for not coming to the NE, not many trophies to be had up here.

Players come to the NE as a platform for a move somewhere better, look at the likes of Remy & Cabaye.

Liverpool clearly believe that Borini doesn't feature highly in their future plans, hence accepting the bid for his services and for their part, Sunderland are still expecting to speak to the Italian in the near future, as Gus Poyet looks to convince the 23-year-old that he can fulfil his ambitions at the Stadium of Light.

Despite this apparent set back, expect the move for Borini to go ahead as planned, even if we have to wait a little longer than expected for a resolution.

Why allow the negotiations to get to the point of going public as it wouldn't really benefit him?

We are not party to what has been said behind closed doors, in public he's maintaining his stance, wouldnt want to be seen as a darren bent or that daft twat that turned up at qpr on deadline day etc

Maybe he was using Sunderlands interest to try and engineer a better move away from Liverpool. Like saying that if we are willing to pay 14 million for him then he must be ok?

I don't know why the club allow things to drag on. We should give a firm cut off deadline and then tell him to stick it.

He's a liverpool player atm, they pay his wages, what else is he supposed to say, "they didnt wish me a happy birthday" or bite somebody?

Be interesting to see if he plays against roma tonight, not that it will tell us **** all either way really

I want him to play tonight, no doubt about it. I don't want to just abandon pre season till he joins us. I want him fit as possible if he were to come.

That doesn't concur with him insisting he wants to stay at Liverpool though ...... he'd be trotting out the 'many clubs are interested' ****e.
 
Borini has been professional to the club he's under contract with, stating his willingness to do well for the club, just like Giacc has with us. Borini will have no more sentimental attachment to Liverpool then Giacc has to us. It tells me nothing about how or where either of them really see's their future.
