The king is dead long live the king,n all that bollox.Personally i thought NB sounded like a right clueless smug pr1ck in his interviews when we where going though a bad spell.Gimmee Mad Mick over nb anyday.

It's acceptible, because there is absolutely nothing you or I or any fan can do about it. Unless you intend on protesting. What is your banner going to read? "You can stick you£50m, we'd rather have no club!"

Yeah to be honest I agree Strov, sorry to be a cynic but people can protest all they like it's not going to make a blind bit of difference. The only way it would is if there is an organized combined protest from a few thousand fans and I don't see that happening in all honesty. If someone wants to get it off the ground then im sure others would join in, but wheres that person or people? People may not turn up to a few games in protest, but they'll miss matchdays eventually and come back. I disagree with the Allam's decision but realistically they're the ones with the power and money and we have to sit there and take it. Like Strov says without them there would be no club. They've mistreated Nick certainly, but I think alot of people will be appeased if the next managerial appointment is a good one, football fans are fickle its a cliche but true. Look at the Hughton situation, if at this time next year the new manager has us in the play offs then fans will forget and forgive.

Official Statement

Following recent speculation in the media Hull City can now confirm that following a brief period of suspension Nick Barmby has today been dismissed from his role as First Team Manager of the Club with immediate effect.

The reason for the dismissal relates to certain comments made by Nick in recent interviews. The comments concerned were wholly misleading and implied that the Board had not made funds available to Nick to strengthen the First Team squad during the January transfer window. Such is not only completely untrue, the comments made by Nick contradicted the Board’s publicly stated position that funds would be made available to Nick during the January transfer window. As stated in previous interviews, the Board accepted every transfer request from Nick and in fact actively encouraged him to strengthen the squad should he feel it was necessary.

The Board consider the comments made by Nick unjustifiably cast public doubt on the honesty and integrity of the Board and its members. The relationship between the Team Manager and the Board is of prime importance to the success of any Football Club. In making the comments Nick made, he completely undermined the trust and confidence that needs to exist between the Team Manager and the Board.

The Club sincerely hopes that its fans will recognise that the decision to dismiss Nick was not taken lightly. The decision was taken following meetings with Nick where he had every opportunity to state his case and make representations. The Club feels that it has treated Nick entirely fairly and in the same way that it would have treated any other employee in the same situation.

Having been prepared to give Nick his first opportunity in football management, and for it to end like this, has been a particular disappointment to the Board.

Notwithstanding the circumstances of this “parting of the ways” the Board wish Nick every success in his future career and thank him for the service he has provided to the Club since his return to his home town in 2004.

The Club can confirm that the search for a new manager will begin immediately.

Ehab Allam
Vice Chairman
Dated 8 May 2012
'The Club feels that it has treated Nick entirely fairly and in the same way that it would have treated any other employee in the same situation.'
So if anybody speaks out in future they get sacked, welcome to Hull City AFC dictatorship of the Allams

Hope the Allams ARE prepared to spend money, because I reckon we will see a lot of players wanting to go

The simply HAVE to spend money now otherwise they will look unjustified in sacking Nick. I honestly, fully expect we'll make some mental, barnstorming big-money signing this summer now so they can say "we told you so".

All these comments they're making about money being available, they're simply going to have to spend it now. No way will people believe that two managers in a row lied about no money being available.

Agreed with both of you guys, they've now dug themselves a hole and THEY HAVE to spend money on players, hopefully decent but not over expensive players or we could end up in the same mess we were when they bought us

I think in the interview with the HDM they stated that money available would be limited over the summer, but reassessed if we're in a good position in January.

No they won't.

They said in January that there was money to spend. All that happened was that they told Nick to say he didn't want any players, then when he started to murmour to the press they sacked him.

Why should they behave any differently with the next manager.

They still have the odd suppoerter who doesn't believe that they wouldn't sign anyone or that they made Nick lie about it. If they do the same with the next manager surely no one will still believe them?

Can someone please post Nicks comments verbatim and where he made them, coz I can't recall him undermining the chairman. The official statement is vague about exactly what was said and to whom

The players need to be a bit careful about what they say...

Sad to see Nick go think he's done a great job considering the way he was brought into the job, wasn't giving a chance..All the best to him

I think he must have been referring to Middlesbrough, they have the nerve to finish as the top club in the county but don't even consider themselves part of it...

Think it depends who you speak to whether they think it's Yorkshire or not. From what I can tell if you speak to an older fan they're more likely to think Middlesbrough's in Yorkshire and we're their rivals, whereas younger fans wouldn't and would look to Newcastle and Sunderland for rivalry.
