tbh I was pleased at first but there were alot of mistakes...not just football mistakes but basic management mistakes, and not using the full squad available to him in March was one of the major ones. The biggest mistake (assuming what the Allams are saying is correct) was not solving the goal scoring problem in Jan. obvious at the beginning of the season, sept, oct, nov, dec but nothing done. sometimes its the things you dont do which has the biggest impact. If Barmby is to be replaced then I feel that Billy Davies will be a good fit with our players as he likes to play football. The forest team that he took to the playoffs were good to watch and scored goals.

More than sad, it's pathetic, how anybody can back the owners on this i don't know. Hope Nicky comes back to the club at some stage and proves himself.

But we aren't a 'big' club to the neutrals and we don't throw money around.

It sends a terrible message to any potential manager coming in and therefore could affect the quality of Nick's replacement.

The players aren't going to be happy because they will have seen progress under Nick.

Well, I think it's a ****ing ****e decision, from two people who are successful in business, but clueless with regard to all matters football.

I base that statement not only only this decision, but on other related decisions which I'm sure will come out in due course and are equally stupid.

I have some questions for the Allam's...

1. If money was available in January, why did you not sanction at least two signings requested by Nick?

2. Why have you reneged on new deals you offered to existing players?

3. If the club is not for sale, why have you just produced a prospectus?

4. Do you even know what day it is?

They paid over the odds to keep the club afloat, they deserve credit for that, but for this, they deserve nothing but a kick in the bollocks.

I'd be happy to oblige.

<applause> I don't understand why people think what the Allams are doing is acceptable and that we should all put up with it and get on with next season, if somethings wrong then you have to speak up not just go on along with it, no matter how many millions they have pumped into us. Saying its all ok and thats what happens in football is like admitting you have no principles.

Nishy, I don't know enough to judge the behaviour of NB, AP or the Allams in all of this? Most of the passionate comment on the the situation is conjecture based on rumour, assumptions and dangerously little in the way of hard facts. Don't know if we will ever find out what has really been going on. But as Oregon Tiger said, there will be plenty of interest from other managers irrespective of the circumstances of Nicks departure. Like you tho, I hope we see him again in some capacity.

So how much will this all cost the club ?

How much will be available to spend on players ?

Who can they realistically get as a manager under these circumstances ?

The only person desperate for the job seems to be Phil Brown
 
Some guy on the HDM site reckons he has heard that Barmby has had a reprieve from the owners, could be a load of cobblers but am clinging onto a bit of hope that common sense might have prevailed with the owners, I agree Burning Bright its all conjecture and emotion at the moment but hard not to get sucked into it especially when you believe things aren't being done right

It's acceptible, because there is absolutely nothing you or I or any fan can do about it. Unless you intend on protesting. What is your banner going to read? "You can stick you£50m, we'd rather have no club!"
 
This is disgraceful, if it were sacked for bringing the club into disrepute for falling out of a nightclub or something more serious I could understand, but if its because Nick questioned the finance available to strengthen the team then its the owners who want sacking for being deeply stupid. Maybe Nick shouldn't have voiced his concerns to the media, but still the reaction from the Allam's to suspend and if true sack him is disgraceful or do they want a manager who will just bend over at their command and do what the heck they say

Thats the annoying thing, we can't do anything about this at all, not like we can start a new club like Man United fans did because of the Glazers or anything. I guess the owners/dictators we have now know this too

i am with you. isnt that long ago that 'our best manager ever', Peter Taylor left the club. Armgedon was forecast then also
 
Official Statement

Following recent speculation in the media Hull City can now confirm that following a brief period of suspension Nick Barmby has today been dismissed from his role as First Team Manager of the Club with immediate effect.

The reason for the dismissal relates to certain comments made by Nick in recent interviews. The comments concerned were wholly misleading and implied that the Board had not made funds available to Nick to strengthen the First Team squad during the January transfer window. Such is not only completely untrue, the comments made by Nick contradicted the Board&#8217;s publicly stated position that funds would be made available to Nick during the January transfer window. As stated in previous interviews, the Board accepted every transfer request from Nick and in fact actively encouraged him to strengthen the squad should he feel it was necessary.

The Board consider the comments made by Nick unjustifiably cast public doubt on the honesty and integrity of the Board and its members. The relationship between the Team Manager and the Board is of prime importance to the success of any Football Club. In making the comments Nick made, he completely undermined the trust and confidence that needs to exist between the Team Manager and the Board.

The Club sincerely hopes that its fans will recognise that the decision to dismiss Nick was not taken lightly. The decision was taken following meetings with Nick where he had every opportunity to state his case and make representations. The Club feels that it has treated Nick entirely fairly and in the same way that it would have treated any other employee in the same situation.

Having been prepared to give Nick his first opportunity in football management, and for it to end like this, has been a particular disappointment to the Board.

Notwithstanding the circumstances of this &#8220;parting of the ways&#8221; the Board wish Nick every success in his future career and thank him for the service he has provided to the Club since his return to his home town in 2004.

The Club can confirm that the search for a new manager will begin immediately.
