Sorry about that marra, time heals though.

It certainly helps Billy, I'm not the most regular of posters but have followed your updates and was truely gutted to hear your news.

Hope you and your family get through this togther real soon, it's times like this when family is really important.

Here's looking to a better 2012 for you mate, and though I'll be at home watching the footy I'll spare a thought for you and your family.

Take care mate.

I have tears in my eyes just reading this. I'm absolutely gutted for Billy, (and the other posters) who have personal issues at the moment.

I for one will be thinking about you all just before the game tomorrow.

This article is a credit to all people on Not606 and shows how tight knitted group we are!

All the best! xx

Nice to see so many people contributing to this thread, people have taken something positive from something tragic and I'm glad you keep popping back in Billy.

To Billy and MrRAWhite, thanks for sharing with us something so personal. It really hammers home how important some things are, usually the things we take for granted.

I work with a lad who's going through all sorts, a lot of it self imposed, but he's making it worse for himself by abusing drugs and alcohol. He's a sound fella with a heart of gold but he's hiding some demons and I've sussed him out. I only wish he would talk about his problems honestly and open up to everyone but he's hiding his secrets by destroying his relationship with friends and family and going off the rails rather than face the reality.

I'm going on a bit but what I'm saying is, in my albeit limited experience, talk to people and stay off the booze. Alcohol really is evil. That's probably the best advice I could ever give. Even if it's on an internet forum you can keep in touch with reality and see that there's always light at the end of the tunnel.

The thing with drugs & alcohol is the pain is still there the next day & it's not nice for your kids to see, I remember you talking to me about this & you're right about it.

I've been a **** on here before & done some bastard things in my life.

Thinking about chucking the beer altogether tbh.

We ALL do and say things we regret, it's realising it and either not doing them again or to apologies.

As for chucking the drink you don't realise how much trouble it causes physically and personally. I don't drink very often now and feel beeter for it

Me too, and all things considered my life is just ticking along normally right now. It ****s everything up man, I'm not clinically depressed but when I've abused the pop things just seem to go wrong and I lose all motivation. It should be a class A drug really.

You're right, you don't notice until it's too late to do owt about it.

I will be thinking about them both on Sunday. Sorry my reply is so short I just can't find the words which is not like me at all. Its nice to see both sides of the river coming together to support fellow fans.

People from outside the northeast have no idea just how tight our community is up here, football is our passion and escape but people are what matters, not mags and mackems but north east people who suffer as one and fight as one.

I look at a few halfwits on GC who call the Newcastle fans over their," silly", reaction to Garry Speed, silly indeed, they dont have a clue, not a clue.

Billy, you'll have a friend from the states this weekend, even if you don't want one.

Thoughts are with you and Janie, and clearly I'll just be one of many with the kindest of thoughts and prayers for the both of you.

Cheers mate.

Just been to the pub, we got onto Newcastle/Sunderland and I brought up this moment between us in front of 5-6 Newcastle fans.

I had tears in my eyes when telling this story, I showed them all the articles on my phone, from Billy and Syd and said that this is the moment when football is irrelevant.

I'd love to meet you Billy as you have impressed me and inspired me as a person from writing to us, to keep commenting on articles, I think you are ****ing brilliant mate.

I'm off to Norwich tomorrow, and will certainly tell this story if people start calling you lot scum. I've done it in the past, who hasn't, but its people like you Billy who make football sound irrelevant. Your loss has affected me in a way that could affect me quite soon, and I am inspired by you, which will help me if I come to this situation in the near future. Hopefully I won't but there is a possibility, and you've helped.

I would also like to thank you for making me see reality. Newcastle v Sunderland hatred is childish, hatred over football is passion, but hatred in general is childish. We're all human here, we are all North East, and however young I am is irrelevant, you've had an impact on me in the past few days.

Syd, we've had our differences, but this article is class. And at 3pm tomorrow, I will commence a minutes silence to myself in memory of Janie, and in respect to Billy, as well as you Syd.

I'm tipsy, but that brings the best out of people and their true opinions.

<applause> Hope everything's alright, Leazes. I'm not great at the comfort lark, but we're all here if you need us too!
