I was about 25 at time and had 30 mins to kill before the Roxy Ball Room opened across the rerd.

To be fair I just double checked the regular haunts i go to and the average was about £4.20, so it is a bit more expensive than i thought.

EDIT: btw nowt wrong with white trainers.

Well there you go then, it’s not an exaggeration for the places I go to be 80p more. And I just remembered actually, the Neck Oil was nearer £6 cos I got 2 cans and it was just under £12.

Not at all, I did specify Reebok.

Well behind the times, they’ve moved on. The true hipster is now clean shaven and has a sharp side parting - think Mad Men.

Long beards are so 2016 or Proto Hipster...

I don't think everyone got the memo, I stayed in Hackney last week and the place was still swarming with beardy blokes in skinny jeans and lumberjack shirts.

I’m not exaggerating in the slightest! I haven’t paid that kind of price you quote for years. And I wouldn’t describe anywhere I drink as ‘toff’. Just last week I paid over a fiver for a half pint can of Neck Oil in Belgrave, and that’s as casual as you can get.

What the **** were you doing in Varsity? Are you 19 and wear white Reebok?
And there we have it. Bummers drinks halves <laugh>

Still get a decent pint for less than £2 in my neck of the woods. Usually four guest ales on between £1.85 & £2.25 a pint.

8 other pubs nearby furthest being less than a 5 minute walk away. Turned one of them into a cocktail ****hole though, sacrilege.

London is ****, I do like an occasional trip though.

Can I hijack this thread for a short while & ask for some good wholesome advice that can only be found on here?

I’ve done two things today.

Hinted to the other half before she went to work that we may go away for the weekend tomorrow.

Sorted out a decent 2nd hand lens for my camera that I can pick up tomorrow or Sunday from Retford or for £20 he can post it to me.

What’s Retford like for a weekend away? Is there much to do? What’s nearby?

Will the joy of the lens outweigh the earache?

Am I playing it right or should I take her elsewhere & cough up the £20 for delivery.

JHC
FFS

I’ve just bought a pint in a boozer in London.
Not central London
Not a tourist hotspot
In fact positively suburban on an overground line
Normal boozer
Pints, sandwiches, blokes in work gear rolling their own cigs

£6.05

Six ****ing pounds and five bastard pence!!!!!
At least they don't demand a tip
