Initially it was Roman, then a little bit of Saxon and then Norman. I know a little bit of history too.

Yep! Portus Adurni - Portchester is the best preserved Saxon Shore fort (chain of fortifications built to control the coastline from The Wash to the Isle of Wight). The curtain wall is still largely Roman (and in bloody good nick). Of course, with the Roman decline, it became part of the Jutish territory of South Hampshire, and then absorbed into the kingdom of the West Seaxe.

No idea if this will arouse any interest but it seems to have woken my inner Mark Corrigan and I've been staring at it for some time. Pretty cool cartoon from 1915:

By the language, it appears to be made by a Dutch person...like that the Netherlands are smoking a pipe, given what people now associate Holland (and pipes) with.

Richard Chaplow has just tweeted a picture of himself with a quite magnificent moustache. I'm sure someone more technically capable than I (DTLW?) will post it!

Desperately bad decision. Not sure what's worse, stopping it too early, or the fact two of the judges only had Groves ahead by 1 point.

Indeed..!

I'll lighten the mood a bit. Who likes Google+..? Not me becauseI didn't ask for it but it has been forced upon me so...

Not a fan myself. Was told I had to set one up but dislike using it, don't find it any more satisfying than any other similar networking site.
