Riveting television. Jon Snow takes Sir Alex Ferguson to task over the questions nobody else asked: http://t.co/lSjHwyDrvc

Ferguson asked about being a Stalinist control freak, falling out with his big stars, his political views and intolerance of the media.

Definitely watch it if you get a spare ten minutes or so.

He squirms just before 8.00 and from then on his body language changes and had it been MotD I think he would have walked out. Just look at how his lips tighten. He was angry. At the end he could wait to get up and go. No genuine smile or warmth.

His book won't be on my bookshelf any time soon.

****ing storms. We weren't allowed to train in helmets because of lightning so it was kind of a waste of time.

I assume you are talking about American Football? What position do you play?

Yeah - no definitive position at the moment but because I'm about 6'4-5ish and can't run, they've stuck me on the lines. Play mostly LT and DE cause I'm not nearly fat enough to be stuck in the middle.

Was a sport I really wanted to start playing a couple of years ago, went to a couple of the open trials and enjoyed it but my work at the time meant I couldn't really commit to it. Circumstances have changed now so I might look at getting back to it.

Is it common to play both O and D? In the trial thing I was at they just asked us about our background (mainly if we had any experience of rugby, and if so what position) then kind of shuffled us into positions that fitted our size/skill sets

Yeah you should, it's really good fun - hurts like a bitch, but you have a great time doing it.

Erm, depends. Mine's a uni team, we've only got about 10 lineman all in all so we all need to be versatile. Basically everyone has no experience so we were all given a trial at every position (the receiver and DB ones killed me) and then were asked to pick which we'd like to take further - linemen were grouped into one so I picked that. We had a couple of sessions there, a few people were moved about if they were far too ****/had skills which would be better in other positions, and we're just now settling into specifics. But on an external team, they may well have more players so you might have only one position. We've got loads of RBs so a lot of them play LB, but WRs and DBs are pretty exclusive.

Just looking at it now and the season is over, usually hold open trials in January so might go along again. Need to put on some more size though as reading the info from last years open trial they do a combine to see if you are even fast/strong enough to make the actual trial :D

Will be playing in the NFL in no time

I've already got a year under my belt for my Uni team. It's so much fun, especially this year. I feel so much more comfortable playing.
