I strongly dislike Coldplay. Have I mentioned that before?

I've tried to like Coldplay. I've put time into it, when I could have been enjoying some excellent music. A few of their songs are genuinely good, but there is so much dross, dressed up as life-altering music.

People have suggested that there the best music has gone by, because all the original tunes, riffs, phrases, etc... have all been played out. I don't think that's true, but it is getting harder to come up with something truly original and yet not jar on the ear, I feel. I have a particular taste in music, and it is my own. It isn't necessarily popular, and could be from almost any era. There is so much musical material out there that I'm not aware of that I could restrict myself to say... all music from the 1960's, and I'd have a lifetime's worth to listen to, and get into. One doesn't have to put up with dross. If one is not keen on this era, choose another. I'm not keen on Coldplay. Not a problem.

Coldplay are a pretty bland band, a few good songs, but nothing special

The video was cool and the song is less annoying than most of theirs but quite repetitive. Squeaky, high-pitched guitar riff, a couple of bars long, repeated throughout; soft, whiny vocals with little variation; thicken it up at the end with an acoustic guitar on top; add loads of reverb to everything. You've got yourself a pretty typical Radio 1 track.

I like Coldplay. I like them quite a lot. But they do seem to be a love or hate band. Which is better then being a meh I don't mind them band.

I remember when I first heard Trouble on the radio. I think I was driving back from Brighton or Worthing to Kent, and it came on. I hadn't heard who it was, but my immediate thought was that Pink Floyd must have got back together and made a new album and this was an excellent track of it. I was more interested when I found it was a new band to my knowledge. So I did the first of many attempts to listen to more of Coldplay's music. This is genuinely good:

I agree, that is a very good song.
