    I am watching cricket with the sound off and subtitles on, the crowd effects and the other TV sound effects are driving me to distraction, particularly that annoying sighing sound.

    I have a soon-to-be-three year old niece, and kids that age are hilarious, if more than a little frustrating. Watching them translate learned behaviours is great; I was looking after her a few weeks ago, and my sister's (her mother) dog Sophie started barking at something...traffic, likely. Niece's reaction was to go over to the dog, start petting her, and saying "there, there, Sophie. It's going to be okay. There, there. Patience. SOPHIE. (throws arms around dog) Patience. It. Is. Going. To. Be. Okay."

    My 3 year old niece is annoying as hell, right little madam. But then hwr dad is a total wimp and gives in to her all the time.
