Ok lads, after reading the thread I think there is a general consensus - We need to stop derailing threads (you know who you are) and leave the "Clique" stuff to the pub thread.

For those that feel left out, apologies. I'm a mod, which itself can bring a bit of isolation (well it did before there was 6 of us).

However, I would like to point out that I will not just agree with someone's opinion if I don't in fear I might be seen as being in a clique, the point of a forum is that we all don't agree with each other.

some of you lot make posts that are negative just for the sake of it to antagonise people, of course you will get retaliation from reds.

Liverpool Southampton thread was ok with most Saints fans being reasonable on it and giving good honest opinions same as us, now read the latest one from a saints fan, nothing but a load of crap that they have wrote just to wind us up.

one cockwomble has ruined a good thread and i suppose the minute some of us retaliate to it its wrong!

I know, and don't get me wrong I see your point.

However, often merely offering an alternate view gets given the "you're just a WUM" treatment and so this will often, unecessarily, descend into a slanging match.

I can honestly, genuinely, say I personally do not come on your board with the intention of winding up but am often met with such hostility that I just respond accordingly. I've actually given up giving an insight into football matters as it isn't worth it.

That's something some of your board members need to consider also as the attitude is just that the Liverpool psoter is always right, regardless.

Seriously, I don't know what's going on here. Clique? If someone expresses a view that half a dozen others disagree with, and they reply, that doesn't mean they're ganging up on him- they're simply expressing their view in return.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and everyone else is entitled to disagree. If anyone is abusive then that is different, but frankly all sorts of personal abuse goes on here in the guise of banter.
Billy's thread that named MFG (I assume it was that that sparked this debate) was anything but abusive and far from trying to gag him, encouraged him to contribute more fully.
I agree that there's a lot of surreal crap on here (and I'm as guilty as anyone on that) but isn't that what happens when a group of people know each others thought patterns quite well? I don't think any of us has deliberately tried to exclude anyone else.
Sometimes we exclude ourselves from things we're not interested in. I personally, find nothing more distasteful than a thread talking about, and posting pictures of, ****. We have one, so I avoid it ( fill yer boots, guys).
As for showing solidarity against mancs and blues, we do -when it comes to footballing matters. That doesn't mean we shouldn't talk to them.
All in all I think the low level of censorship on here works quite well. There are times when I think we're on thin ice but I'll accept that as the price we have to pay to speak our minds.

not really a Liverpool problem that one, that could apply to all clubs.

also i have had the wum comment thrown at me, and when i say its just my opinion and back it up why i think that way then its accepted even if they don't agree, if you don't back a comment up then generally you don't have a point do you, and they are probably right in the first place it is a wum.

A consensus isn't a conspiracy is it? It's a distillation of the view of the majority, so if you offer an alternative, you're bound to get taken up on it.
Unfortunately, too many people do come on here with the sole intention of having an argument- and it's that that derails most threads as they descend into the same old tired slanging match.

No one said it was a conspiracy.

I offer, for example, Michael Carrick. General consensus on here is (was maybe) that he's average and his medals and record don't prove anything as all of LFC's midfielders are better than him.

It goes back a while admittedly but try offering a different opinion to that one here by ****, it used to turn proper nasty!
 
I don't see why cliques should bother anyone. There's cliques in every form of life and that includes forums on the World Wide Web. Get used to it, if you aren't already. The threads are simply for you to get your opinion out there, if people don't agree, fine. Try argue your point. Not everybody is going to agree. Don't take things personally.

Forums are for sharing opinions and information to facilitate a better understanding, the info is shared and those taking part can take or leave it when forming their own opinions.

Then the Romans turned it into faction based fighting and all benefits of a forum were lost, this turned into politics eventually as we know it today.

If I make a post, not quoting anyone but just sharing an opinion, you can take it leave it, you can also make a counter post without quoting or directly engaging the other contributor. If you are quoted then you have been engaged and are therefor entitled to reply with your argument.

What is not really friendly and conducive to a productive discussion is latching on to something you disagree with, an opinion offered but not directed at any one person and quoting it and incessantly drilling your own point into the other member who only offered an opinion that one could take or leave, but to feel the urge to respond directly and keep at it until either the original poster who only offered an opinion and not directly disagreed gives up or gets irritated.

Someone somewhere on the internet is wrong, I gotta go deal with this! springs to mind but now <this guy has to bring his friends along for the crusade it seems on this board, and some, who wont admit it, just disagree because of who is posting, if no one can see this then OK, good luck with that but when it's amongst our own members, it's pure pants and tedious as ****, the levels of tolerance differ depending on who it is posting I notice at times.

I was posting stuff yesterday, one member asked me if I was drunk and told me I was embarrassing myself, I had not posted to this member nor abused anyone? I was in a bit of a mood and I said that a few times that day but still I did not come at anyone like that<, who fkn asked the user to come and say that, or a mod to say I am causing a lot of work by creating two threads one of which was asking to clean up the rubbish? It started again. Some of you are contrary chaps, ahem cough cough nauticus and will just be adverse for adversity's sake.

Now, it's not a serious crime, nor is it evil nor is anyone hurt scarred or injured.

It's tedious as ****ing hell.

I will say I am no angel, but I will never ever gang up on one of us with a manc, no offence mancs but it has to be that way on this board and I am sure you agree for the most part with that. Pity some of our own don't though.

As for the bromance between some mancs and ours, that's fine and healthy but FFS leave it at the door, make poo babies on your own time yeah<ok>
 
Quite funny that you're all not allowed to get along with us because we support different teams.. Crock of **** if ever I saw..

I despise LFC as a club doesn't mean I hate everyone that supports them.. Albeit the ones I know are too the most part 80's glory supporters who are now in perma beel mode.. <ok>
