As well as the issue of the initial fee isn't he on good wages? 60 to 70k per week. I hope he isn't expecting a wage increase of FCB or he might as well get back on the plane and apologise to he employers...

It was a major problem on the 27th and his wage demands, even if it is just parity with his current contract, will be a major stumbling block.

According to Mr Aulas its now down to agent fees holding up the deal?
This transfer goes on and on.If we do get him i hope he is ****ing worth it!

The Mirror.hmmmmm? not the greatest in the world but i hope they have this one nailed.

If you look recently at the timeline between the club's efforts on PR and the stories from the Mirror, the two go hand in hand and I am sure the club have unofficially made the Mirror their National press mouthpiece. All the stories have been pretty positive from them, where others have been a bit snipey and if you look at the other papers, all they have done is reworded and regurgitated Mirror leads.

I buy the Mirror most days, and was getting a bit p***** with their reporting on us.
But there does seem to be change in the last couple of weeks or so for the better.
Less sniping definitely.

French reports this morning that we have now made a slightly improved offer which has been accepted:

"According to L'Equipe, Olympique Lyonnais and Newcastle have reached an agreement for the possible transfer of Bafetimbi Gomis, there would not be as loose ends to validate the transfer. So an offer of € 8 million was reached on the desk by Jean-Michel Aulas few days ago, the French daily now talk of an offer of € 8 million plus 2 million bonus.

The English club would therefore welcome a new French, among others join scorer Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa or Moussa Sissoko. The latter commented on twitter possible arrival of his friend.

"A great support to my brother Bafé Gomis for this difficult period, hang on, You are welcome to Newcastle" "

Let's just hope JFK is kept away from contract negotiations and we're serious on his salary.

I think Joe's only sent in as some kind of comedy card. Re: Bent, Ashley probably thought "there's no way I'm spending a bean on someone 29 years old playing for Villa....let's send Joe in, so we LOOK like we're doing something, but he's guaranteed to fck it up. Just in case he's not as thick as he looks, make sure he knows he's only got £2m to spend."

Spuds now in for Remy... Bent off to Fulham.... Come on Joe you rancid piece of cockney ****, pull your finger out.

It's almost laughable. The greasy kent comes in blowing his own fanfare, tells Llambiarse to 'do one', then announces how his sole job is transfers and he's there to make NUFC the best it can be. SECOND OF FCKING AUGUST AND NO PLAYERS IN!!!!

You couldn't make it up. In a sadistic way, I'm quite looking forward to whatever interviews he gives in September when we've managed to bring in the sum total of fck all and - probably - sold Kebab to Spurs.

On a side note I notice that Vuckic has joined both Ameobi's, Anita, Gouffran and a few others in acting a bit "new signing" ish. I don't understand why the club thinks this is what we want to hear? As if our clamor for a new signing didn't take into account Vuckic or Gouffran and we then think "oh, YEAH - we've got that guy. Maybe we don't need a striker after all".....

I don't recall ever being this frustrated with the club. I've been angry and disgusted on numerous occasions, but never felt so frustrated or helpless. Shepherd remains a worse owner, but at least you knew if you kicked up a stink, it would hurt the fcker.

Aulas (Lyon President) has just spoken to French media and said that they have accepted an 8m + 2m euro offer for Gomis!!! On L'Equipe now, he also reckons the only sticking point is (fcking) agent fees.

Finally getting somewhere?

(appreciate there's already a thread on this, but - like me - it's kind of a big deal)

Yep, Reuters. Someone reputable.

Lets hope so but I'm not a big believer in media outlets, whether incoming or outgoing transfers are concerned.
