Agent fees? If there is a sticking point then you can be sure NUFC will make the most of it. MA wouldn't want money to actually be spent!

This isn't really a fair comment. MA likes a bargain but has no difficulty parting with money when he thinks he has found one. HBA, Tiote, Cabaye, Cissse and the January 2013 lads were all wrapped up quickly with cash in full paid up front.

It was a tongue in cheek comment.

I agree - MA will sometimes spend some money, usually when it has been generated by player sales. It is a positive to run a tight ship and pick up quality at bargain prices, and is very satisfying when it comes off, but this summer has thus far been incredibly difficult. The financial prudence becomes a negative when haggling over a million or two ends up with top targets going elsewhere and ultimately leads to under investment in the playing squad, particularly if there are areas of glaring weakness in the team.

Sorry for my sense of humour failure.

Not really sure we've missed out on any targets except PEA, and we were never going to be able to compete with Dortmund.

The frustrating shilly shally so far is essentially a trade off of 3 or 4 weeks integration into the squad for a few million pounds saved. I am less than happy with it but I can see the argument - - the money saved can maybe buy a January signing.

Bafetimbi Gomis: 'There are two interested clubs: Marseille and Newcastle. August will be the month of truth.' He said TODAY. #OL #NUFC #OM

This would be a tremendous signing. With pretty much every striker going for way over what they are worth (apart from Bony - a great signing by the Swans, and Van Wolfswinkle) this is a prolific striker with international pedigree.

Lets get this 'over the line'......

Bafétimbi Gomis did a panther impression after scoring for St Etienne, a lion at Lyon. Will he soon be doing his best magpie impersonation?

He's coming to show Cisse how it's done!
