Can anyone remember when the BBC uncovered a payment from P. Storrie after Redknapp took Saints down, Storrie said it was a part of a season payment, if i remember correctly it was there on the BBC south today news, then the story completely disappeared, maybe thats part of the Portsmouth Court case too.

No problems here with Spurs tho on the academy front, its business

Well if all other clubs went out scouting, chances are they'd find atleast some if not all of the players the saints get, And to be honest if united or Arsenal came in for a young player they'd get 99.9% of them over the saints, which means less good players for you, less money for you, and eventually no club for you.

Atleast this way you get the good players, you get them for a while, get them help your club progress etc, then get a ****load of cash for them.

You Pratt What an arrogant altitude! You probably don’t sign half the good players you could in your area, but even if you did and you could get 99% of everyone you would hundreds of youngsters so would then have to make a decision on who to keep, so there would still be loads of players for scouts with a good eye to pick up your flotsam and jetsam and thus the whole cycle would start again where the other clubs with good academies would be selling to your club

What is it that Southampton fans think Redknapp's been charged with, exactly?
You know that he's only been accused of failing to pay about £40,000 in tax and nothing else, right?
Not a good thing, if he's found guilty, but nothing to do with nicking money from Portsmouth.

This thread was started because I was pretty pissed off with Arsenal and Spurs forever trying to get their hands on the nippers in our academy (how is that for a bit of Southampton speak and I'm not even a Sotonian). It would appear that Spurs Academy has improved conciderably and while they have eight players in the PL from their Academy we have eleven. What interests me as someone who is a bit of an Arsenal fan is that no one from that club has commented on this thread.

So the question now is:

Why is Arsenal's Acadamy crap?

Very crap. They have only produced a talent like Wilshere (YPOTY). Frimpong is not bad either. Last time i checked Cole was the England left back.

And which one of them was supposed to be looking after the money?
You know, as his job?

Who was spending the money?

When Redknapp was at Southampton he tried to pressurise Lowe into spending big time but that was never on. So he palyed our kids in a cup game to try and demonstrate how much the team neede strengthening but he had more than met his match in Lowe. Our financial problems were nothing to do with Redknapp they were to do with board room infighting and a loss of budgetry control with the constant changes in senior management. Redknapp had long gone by then. However if Lowe had not reigned him in we would have been in even deeper trouble.

Levy seems also to know how to handle Redknapp so it is not likely that Spurs wll be in the mire.

Redknapp is OK so long as there is a strong Chief Executive controlling him.

Let him loose with the budget and he will ruin you.

Storrie.
The money didn't go on transfer fees, as Redknapp made a massive profit on those, as far as I can tell.
It may well have gone on wages and 'agents fees' but it's not the manager's job to negotiate those.
I honestly don't think that it all adds up and I think that the whole thing needs to be looked at.

Redknapp's not that involved in our transfers.
Levy's sensible enough to keep him away from it all, as you've suggested.

Soton fans really take the bitter biscuit. Shame because it's a nice city, if a bit dull <ok>

So is anyone going to acknowledge that PNP showed that you didn't have a clue what you were talking about? There's plenty of you..

Guys

We can see you love Twitchy even though he wouldn't have had a clue Bale was any good unless he hadn't needed to play him. Was lucky there because of an injury forcing his hand. He will never bleed youngsters through to the first team. He loves the oldies :)

I think what should be taken into account is this before any more silly comments are made.

IF Saints were as big as Spurs (and I freely admit we are not) with our academy then they would have stayed that is true and you are all right there. however we would've had them in the first team not sold on because they weren't good enough. That is what we are saying. ours ARE good enough for the prem.

So IF we were Spurs we would have AOC, Walcott, Bale AND Lallana in the first team and that would make Spurs a definite top 4 team :) Oh and Modric may well have to give way for Lallana :)

ALLEGEDLY he avoided tax by paying for a cut of a players signing on fee through an offshore account.
the FBI got involved in this you know, there is a sports organisation based in florida involved and mandaric just happens to be a major shareholder, payments were made through this organisation too. sooooo much dodgy stuff went on, you dont know the half of it.

Redknapp was always intending to play Bale when Assou-Ekotto went to the African Nations Cup.
How do we know?
Because he publicly said so.

What was that about silly comments? <whistle>
